Hammond Critical - Top Gear Car Crash!

You just know that despite the seriousness the the whole thing will be played out in a future episode of TopGear with much mirth  :)

If for any reason Hammy doesnt get better I can't see JC and JM carrying on with Top Gear.

BUT THIS WON'T HAPPENEN CAUSE HE WILL GET BETTER.

Not had time to comment in this thread not been on the forum for a few days, I hope Hammond makes a full recovery and everything will be alright for him in the end, my thoughts are with him at this time

I will put every penny I have on the table saying he loved every minute of it prior to the crash!
To be honest he probably won't remember anything of that day, that's normally what happens when you suffer such a large trauma.

The news reports sound really promising which is good news! He seems to be making good progress.

I am insulted that those worthless idiots at Health & Safety even think they have a right to investigate this. They should get a job and do something constructive.

Whys that, he nearly died doing his job so their perfectly within their remit. If they can pick up anything that might prevent a reoccurance, thats a good thing right?

Just an update. RH is very responsive now. He is talking normally and has full recognition of friends and family. His speech is a little slow displaying similar charateristics of a stroke patient.

It is probable he will now commence a full recovery, again, not immidiately though.

Remember:- If Ron Burgundy says it, it must be true!

haha, guy on the news from ROSPA, "did they do a risk assesment?", he was sat on a sodding rocket ffs!

Because it's dangerous. There is absolutely NOTHING safe about it and Hammond knew that. There is no point in an investigation, or anyone attempting to sue anyone else.

So just because something is dangerous means that safety precautions shouldn't be taken? There's a very good case to answer here, and hopefully following a investigation they'll find that everything that could be done was done to make it as safe as reasonable practicable.

Jokester

It is a dangerous activity, yes but there are various safety measures in place. As I have mentioned several times, there is a thorough safety cell. Without this, Hammond would almost certainly have died.

Everything would have been done with the full knowledge of what could happen; it would have been a calculated risk.

Well.. It's good that he's alive, and it's good that he (or so it seems) is now recovering a little. A seemingly really nice guy, and a great presenter. Looking at the nations response, and the massive response on car and family forums on the old tinterweb I think he'll be dead chuffed when he's up and about. Here's to a full recovery :)...

What a story to tell the grandkids!..

Docters say "The Next 10 Days will Tell" (BBC Radio1 News - 5:45)... Basically Hemmeraging can still occur anytime over a 10 day period!...

But the Doc said Hammey's Doing Very Well!..

it is a little anoying this whole top gear are reckless / H&S stuff, there is no way anyone is just going to get strapped into one of those things and told "give it full beans mate you'll be OK" get real

"I drove a jet powered Vampire car at 300Mph and crashed." For some reason 'Jet powered Vampire car" just sounds oh so so cool.
