Hi,

I have several HDDs (1-2 years old) in my PC and an SSD with the OS on it. When I startup and shutdown my PC there is a squeal from the either one or two of the HDDs. This has been going on for a few months, do you think they are going to fail?

It is hard to say without actually listening to it as some drives do make a small high pitched noise when first spinning up or down. I have an old 500gb WD drive that does this, so it could be perfectly normal. It could also be a failing drive. Difficult to diagnose I am afraid. Have you tried seatools or something similar to run a 'health check' on the drives in question?

I think i'll try this and look into getting a new hdd to copy everything on to ;)
