Hard drive beeping?

Hello all

i have a Hitachi Desktop
P/N 0A32158
500gb IDE

And it's beeping
Very quietly, it's beeping

Long beep, short beep
etc

Do hard drives beep? It's playing up, i presume this means it's a dead one?
the serial number is R4C1XU0A, is it in warranty? I had a look on the site but i got a bit confused

A HDD cant Beep as its got no speaker etc, it can make sounds mechanically or even electrically.

The sound may be from your Case speaker if any wired to the Mobo.

Sounds too coincidentally perfect to be mechanical

hmmm, definately not the case, as it's done it in an external caddy and a case

Lots of hard drives do make an almost 'beep' like sound at times - usually when spinning up after being powered on. Haivng it happen constantly would likely indicate a mechanical fault.

One of my 500gb drives makes that noise. Its more of a high pitched resonance.

Comes up as "Please return drive to the point of purchase or system manufacturer." which means it's OEM so you need to go to whoever sold it to you if you still have a warranty with them.
