Hard drive disassembly and changing

OMG, I want to try that badly.. Perhaps i can make a drive into a disk launcher.. Afterall IDE drives are scrap and its not worth selling
 
I've seen HDD window mods which look awesome, but you'd never really want to trust anything of importance to them afterwards.
This might be worth a shot if you truly do have access to a clean-room.

As for your actual question, aren't you taking the mountain to mohammed with that?
Why wouldn't you just take the controller boards and swap them rather than trying to swap incredibly delicate platters?

I can't say it has any chance of working, but you're missing one of the best things about dismantling Hard Drives - the ridiculously powerful magnets.
 
Well thats all ide want out of them if i messed up, Never thought about changing the controller boards oddly..

Clean room we have a switch room at work which is free from dust and crap. Best im gona find.
