Hard drive failure

Because after that length of time the law only requires that the item be repaired or replaced.

You can't demand you money back.

If you were offered a refund as a goodwill gesture, or because the item couldn't be repaired or replaced, it would only be a partial refund as you've had 10 months use of the HDD.

Must say totally agree that the WD service is excellent however i managed to get a full refund but largely to the unsual circumstances i experenced.

I had brand new 500WD and it was went after 2 months, got a replacement and it went after a month and then got another replacement and it went after 4 months. So less than 12 months i went through 3 drives. At the time i was totally put off with WD drives.

My biggest complaint was i bought a brand new drive and each time the replacements was a refurbish drives (not brand new). I guess i was unlucky but thinking back it part of their quick service. They send the replacement drive before they actually receive the faulty one. So must churn through quite a number as part of their service.

As you would imagine i wasnt happy and wasn't prepared to go through the inconvience for a 4th time even if they guaranteed it was a a new drive.

In the end i got a refund. So kudos to their service.

Sorry rattling on a bit here. :) Just RMA via the WD site. They will allocate a RMA number and from there organise the courier service number etc. It pretty straight forward. IIRC you send your faulty drive to the nearest WD office which is down south UK?. You should get another from Germany.

sorry, one more question, If the drive is agreed by them to be faulty, will they reimburse me with all the delivery costs including the packaging required? and the RMA is in dollars even though im in the uk

and also why is it they ask for the drive to be in ESD packaging when new OC didn't send it in one?
