Hard drive may be acting up, what disk checking program?

Hi all

I think I might be having a problem with one of my mechanical hard drives, everything is backed up but what is the best program to use to check the health of the drive.

I have seen a few but they all seem to be for specific purposes, is there a general diagnostic program that will check to see if everything is working as intended?

Look in Windows Event Viewer.

Check the System tab.

The way to use event viewer..(Windows Vista/7)

Windows logs
>System

Click Filter current log.

Select 'Event Sources', then click 'disk, Disk', click OK

It will have every problem ever recorded for hard drives
