I have just bought a new HD, A 160 gig Sea Gate. This was to be a 2nd drive on an existting rig to run along side a 1 TB Samsung. The Sea Gate was to hold my OS (Win7) and the Sammy was to hold my game and applications(ect) But when I tried to install Win 7 onto the SeaGate it says that it can not read a drive...... Could mean a faulty drive......Is there a way to test a HD for a fault?
RMA??? The drive is brand new and unformated. Any help would be greatly appreciated......

Yes, after my failed attempt to install win 7, I disconnected the sammy, and left the new SG drive on its own....again I attempted to install win 7, this again resulted in a no drive found.....I then tried to install my old OS (Win XP home) And again I got the same result....
Any Idaes?

No, leave the system booting off the Samsung (with the Seagate connected as well) then go into Disk Management (right click on My Computer and pick manage) then create and format a partition on the Seagate - assuming it's showing up OK.

Tried this and unfortunatly it still doesnt read a 2nd drive in the Disk management section.....It does however read a 0mb 2nd drive in the BIOS....
I still have no clue and would still appreciate any help or advise given to me...

The fact that the BIOS is saying the drive is 0Mb isn't encouraging. I'd go and get the Seatools diagnostic pack from the Seagate website and run that against the new drive. It could well be DOA.
