Hard Drive Prices rant.

I think we are at the stage now where manufacturers are just artificially keeping the prices high.

My response is simple, i'm not going to buy any hard drives until the prices come down :)

Where I just bought my Seagate 2TB driver for £69 inc delivery they had over 600 (IIRC) in stock last night. When I posted this morning they had around 170 or so left. Now they have sold out. Not sure how the manufacturer, Seagate, could have influenced their pricing to sell them at that price whilst other retailers are listing them at close to £100..?

Doubled in price? Hardly. The Samsung HD204UI at it's cheapest was around £55, it's now between £83-£90.

It's ridiculous people complain so much about HD prices, HD capacity is still ridiculously cheap.

I paid £40 for each of my F3's here on OcUK. They're now over £90. (£40x2=£80, just in case you didn't know....)

I see that WD have done very nicely from the disaster. Seems to me that this has been more about making a killing than helping the victims, just like I thought.

2 tb hdds are cheap as chips tbh

ssd are good value atm price per pow

no need to complain me thinks

rememebr the days x10 that was expensive

Meh,Its just an excuse to rip us off,I cant believe after all this time they are still having issues getting hard drives...is there only one factory in the world that make them?

Problem is...if people carry on buying them at this price they think its okay to carry on ripping us off.

However....i agree that SSDs have gone down quite a bit now,A good job i think!

I'm still holding out on buying more hdd space, I refuse to spend £110 on a 2tb drive when a year ago they were £55. I don't really care about the reasoning, that's going backwards, not forwards.

However, I have 2x1tb drives with a total of about 10gb free (2gb on one, 7gb on the other, or there abouts). So I might have to just swallow it and buy more space soon.
