2 days ago i started my new pc for the first time
And i noticed that the hard drive is pretty noisy
It seems to always make a slight 'knocking' noise
I need clarification on this :(

And also, if for some reason i need to change my hard drive would my windows 7 be screwed

I used an OEM windows 7, i believe this means that is it linked to the motherboard, not the hard drive. Would i be able to just install it on the new drive?

Im just really confused right now

No problem from a Windows licensing point-of-view. The worst that'd happen is needing to phone an automated service.

What model of drive is it?

Have you tried downloading and running the manufacturer's diagnostic?

Okay thank you :D

And i also just researched that it could be a firmware issue of the drive, i could update the firmware and apparently that could solve the problem

Do you reckon that this could be the case ?? :)

It's possible. If there's a drive firmware update out it's usually for a good reason. Just make sure it comes from a legitimate source. Any firmware update should come with the information required to decide whether it's applicable to your situation or not.

Some noise is normal for any drive. You're probably just hearing the heads repositioning.

None of the Seagate drives I played with recently has been unexpectedly noisy. They've certainly not been significantly different to their WDC equivalents.

Have you got anything to compare it to?

Well for me, its my first build, so i wouldnt have nothing to compare... DAMN :(

Ill have a look at doing that update and i will try out seatools and ill get back to you :p

Thanks :D
