Hi there im currently running a setup consisting of 64GB M4 SSD And an 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Iv obtained a Seagate Pipeline 500GB which is a 5900rpm drive compared to my deskstar which is 7200rpm yet the benchmarks show the Seagate is infact a faster drive? Does this sound like it could be true if so i will be using it as a data drive instead

Benches :) Does this seem right? I am running an ancient sata2 board btw explains the slow m4!

yh,the green eco drives are pretty quick tbh,esp the newer models

it also depends on how full the hdd's are, they slow down slightly as they fill up

the hitachi is 29% full vs 1% for the seagate

would it slow up 21MB/s read though on seq? Its out of a Sky +HD box which has been sat up in my loft for a year has 412 days of 24/7 usage on its clocks but error checks are all coming back clean and certainly useable

idk, youd need to test as it filled up

I know my 2tb does 130-140mb read/write 0% full and around 90mb read/write with 10gb free

Ill fill it to 50% and give it a test if it comes back still better ill make it my data drive as this Deskstar (Deathstar) does have me worried sometimes when it makes noises :P
