Hey,
I have a 750GB Hitachi Deathstar. I opened a Western Digital My Book Network Drive and got a Western Digital 1TB green drive from it (WD10EADS). I formatted it to NTFS and copied everything form the Deathstar to the green drive. I then plugged the green drive in and took the Deathstar out placing the green drive in exactly the same spot with the exact same cables connected to the same controller ports.

When I booted it detected my SSD and my hard drive yet wouldn't load the OS even though it was on the SSD. I tried the boot menu and selecting the SSD but it still didn't work.

Long story short with my OS on my SSD it only works when the Deathstar is plugged in and not the green drive.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
Jordy

Did you have the Hitachi HDD connected when you installed Windows onto the SSD?

If you did then certain files needed to boot into Windows could have been installed on the HDD which is why you can't boot without it.

Yes im almost sure i did, I selected the SSD but for the install, is there any way of using the green without re-installing windows?:(

I lost interest at 'Deathstar'. It's ridiculous people still perpetuate this.

Well when you have something whining away beside you every time a computer is on, you'll understand why I refer to it as a deathstar.

Tried this, didnt work, wont show up my SSD as a windows installation to repair :S any ideas?
