Hi

I've got 2x Maxtor 120gig Hard drives in RAID 0 on an old NF7-S v2. The processor has died (i kinda killed it) so i'm upgrading the lot to an opteron setup as old athlons are pretty pricey!

I think you can guess my slight dilemma. Are these HD's going to work in RAID when plugged into my new motherboard? I fear the answer :(

If the answer is no, is there a solution - eg. get a temporary drive to boot and run the raid as a slave drive? Will the raid work on a different motherboard??

HELP!

It's highly unlikely that you'll be able to transfer the array intact onto another machine, the RAID controllers available on newer boards are just too different for there to be a decent chance of it working.

The drives themselves will work fine but you'll lose any data that's already on them.

So my only real option to recover data is to borrow a processor if i can to extract what i need and then to wipe and start again?

Looks like i've got some fun computing hours to put in!
