hardc0re_tid's Nissan AlmeraT

I don't like it. Paint looks horrible and it's looks a half arsed attempt at the rat-look. Personally I would have sold the 1.4 to an Old Dear and bought a proper 3 door gti.

For me its hard to even appreciate the workmanship. The Almera is a car with no real potential or character, nor is it a unusual/unique car. It's probably the blandest, most uninteresting car nissan have churned out.

But whatever turns you on I guess.

i respectfully disagree. its not actually a bad platform to build on...

the blandest most uninteresting nissan would probably go to the last version of the primera...the slug-a-like looking one...

or maybe some other naff model we dont see much of over here...

the car was cheap the engine was cheap,

It stands you at 3 grand!

so what its a mid 90's low powered 2 litre the end result is what i make it end of if youve nothing left to say then just leave please as you appear to be fighting a losing battle here by implying that im wasting my time, money and effort, whaty i do is my choice, you clearly wouldnt do what i have done, doesnt make it pointless.... im mine and some people's eyes

You asked for opinions. You cant then have a paddy when you get them.

about 1k of it was spent on audio, 800 for the car and the rest of it was spent on this an that, wheels, coilovers, doner gti, other bit and bobs

yes that would be me, EVERYTHING has been done by me bar the exhaust work and the tyre fitting

You need to tell me your methods of prep etc then, i want to matt colour (probably black) at some point

i know that! as i keep syaing i couldnt justify 3k on it!

but bear in mind that a 3k 200sx will also need £££ work, and cost a lot more up front to buy AND insure. but yes its better and faster.

i think you have to use context here. yes compared to modern 2litre units with VVT/vtec/VVL etc can output more, the majority of 5 year old 2.0's dont...

examples;

Ford Mondeo 2.0 petrol... 140bhp.
alfa romeo 2.0 petrol .. 150bhp (145 clover)
subaru 2.0 na ... 140bhp?
bmw 6 cylinder 2.0 na.. 150bhp (1994-98)

but yes.. clearly 150 is rubbish for an early 90's petrol engine

Could have got a 306 gti-6 for under 2k now and thats 167bhp from a 2l Na! and a lot newer!

Or even 300 more this Rallye

The sad thing is people who do things like this do it for the attention - every single person here could compare his car to the dung that was left in clarksons garden, but he's probably still enjoying people talking about it

Good job!

The SR engines are awesome, i had the SR18DE in my Pulsar GTI import and it never missed a beat, loved that car! Would thrash any other n/a 1.8 on the road and keep up with any of the n/a 2.0's listed above
