Ok here it is my 300gb Seagate Baracude storage drive, decides to DIE 1 month before i wanted to buy a Harddrive to back up my Data.

Can anybody recommend a Harddrive recovery programm?

My harddrive keeps ticking and not responding when i double click on it.

it just keeps ticking :(

If its ticking its probably beyond a software fix

http://www.vogon-international.com/ will get your data back but it will cost you £450+vat (I got a quote for someone last week) - £50 diagnostic and they will send you a list of what they can restore, then if you want your data you pay your £450!.. (well they say 150 - 450 but its most likley to be 450)

I'll let someone else post the freezer trick if your data is nto worth £450

well its music, videos and pictures from 2001 all the way untill 2008, i would rather try software to get it back first. I ain't done nothing to the drive since i realised its curropt, so most data will hopefully still be accessble with software. Anybody know a good cheap software that recovers files?

If the drive is making ticking noises then there's something physically wrong and continuing to use it may make it even worse.

It's time to ask yourself just how critical that data is. If you simply must have it back then bite the bullet and call a data recovery company. Don't try messing with it yourself first in the hope of retrieving the data as you may end up totally screwing it.

:( dam, i have now disconnected it so nothing can be writen on it so hopefully not 2 much has been lost on the drive, i just hope all my pictures are still availbe, if only the HDD recovery didn't cost half my wages :P up to £450 :| OMG, but i am sure my teenage memories are worth it, Anybody know a cheap harddrive recovery Company?

Cheaper then £450?:P
