Hey fellow OC'ers

So basically I have two Vertex II's in raid0 and while I have been dreaming of a fusion IO or OCZ Z drive they are far to expensive for my level of computing.

The question on my mind is what sort of performance increase would I see from using a hardware raid controller, the two brands I have in mind are these:

http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/products/controllers/hardware/ssd-caching/entry/sas-2405q/

http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/product_raid_hba.htm
(not sure which model of highpoint yet)

So yea.. what sort of performance increase theoretically would I see, whats the best bang per buck model on the market and do they have any downfalls.
(I wont be considering any non bootable options)

Thankyou all ahead of time and I am sorry if this question has already been answered.

RAID0 on a motherboard controller vs RAID0 on a dedicated controller? Very little difference. It's only when you use a parity based RAID level (3,5,6) that dedicated cards are of any performance benefit.

The would however be a difference during multitasking or heavy use as the work would be done by the raid controller whereas motherboard raid offloads work to the cpu, but I agree for general use you don't need a raid controller for just Raid0, although it does have the advantage that if you upgrade your motherboard/etc drives can be easily migrated from machine to machine and still load windows fine.
