Has anyone else "gone off" WoW?

Hey all.

Even though i've played WoW since beta (so a few years now) i've only ever had the chance to raid once, in a guild that did a load of the old level 60 content.

Now I wanted to get back into this and experience some of the TBC content, however i'm having a bit of trouble - I seem to have totally gone off the game.

I rolled on the new Blade's Edge server, got myself into a nice guild where everyone seems friendly, but I just seem to totally lose motivation. I keep trying but the more I do, the less I seem to want to play.

It's a pity really - i'd like to see some of the TBC endgame content before that becomes obsolete also.

Anyone else have this problem?

Also i'd like to apologise for the vagueness of the thread. :o

It happens with all MMO's. You just get burned out, even though you can't put your finger on it as to why.

Don't force yourself to play, that will never work. Take a fortnight or a month off, then see how you feel. If you still don't feel like playing at that point, unsub until you do.

not really... i took like a year out before trying TBC and i was hooked again almost instantly

the key to wow for some people is to take a nice healthy break. it's definately an awesome expansion pack so maybe thats what it is?

but don't do anything crazy like sell your account or anything, cos the motivation returns... it always does

I agree with this guy, dont log in unless you feel like it...the desire normally returns =)

Due to RL my playing time is really limited, pre TBC I used to raid with my guild MC & ZG AQ 20. also managed to pvp to rank 10.

Now that I only play a few nights a week, and maybe weekends I've found theres loads I'd like to do, but don't have the time, I'm currently grinding to get Blacksmithing to 375 (367 atm) once I'm there, I want to get some decent DPS gear and upgrade my lionheart blade to a lionheart executioner.

Guess if you don't play as much you'll enjoy the time you do play more as you try and cram as much into it as poss.

aye tbc is really good, just stick at it and go on when you feel like it. If you dont enjoy dont play is my opinion.
WAR is not to far away now. nether is Wotlk hopefully. so theres plenty to keep you going in the not to distant future. Altho it you have a lvl 70 before wotlk comes out that would benefit you loads and would proberbly enjoy Wotlk more

I have gone off WoW in the past, but my interest has been sparked once again and I'm currently enjoying my 70 Druid and getting my pre-tbc (old raiding Rogue) to 70 in prep for Lich King.

Like yourself I just started playing again after a 4 month break.

Rolled a new character on Blade's Edge like yourself joined a new guild and it's been great fun so far. My level 25 rogue is going nicely.

I've taken a long break from the game but I'll probably go back once WotLK comes out, depending on other MMO's if they keep me interested or not.

i played for 2 years or so then just stoped playing for 5 weeks as i was bored and didnt want to play it at all, i used to be raiding 25 mans most nites.

5-6 weeks later ive started playing again but i just pvp now, with the ocasional instance/ kara or something. the guild im in is not that well geared so im not forced to raid.

I took a few months off, a few times.

But i was just bored, as i was listening to music on my PC with nothing to do but read!

I also enjoy raiding as i have some great people in my guild, with an awesome sense of humour. So raiding BT and MH a lot never gets old to me.

I stopped because I did everything I wanted to.
Became the best darn Lock in the guild, also joined some crappy little guild that ended up being the Biggest Raiding guild on our server.
5 raiding teams. All only after 3-4 months.
I'm very pleased. But even with Lich King I've set out to do what I wanted, accomplished it and retired, having known some of the best people ever. :)

Well I realised that the happiest I was in game was lvling with everyone in my guild and getting to 60. After that it all pretty much was a grind with very little fun.

If I feel bored I re-roll a new toon - usually a class I've never played before and play SLOWLY soaking up the atmosphere and storyline. I try to play as an RPG rather than a MMO and I find this helps a lot.

On my mains I tend to fly through content - working on getting gold/rewards rather than enjoying the story. I think this is one of the reasons why we burn out.

i got bored like you. At some point couldn't log on after work when i KNEW all i was going to do is get on, say hi to the guild get grouped for raid, kill some boring boss in hyjal or in BT then look at my clock and oh my it's midnight already time to go to sleep for work/school. Rinse repeat all week days then on week-end it gets even worse...

I'm really happy now having stopped wow, getting much more out of my social life, GF, parties etc.. and still a tiny little bit of gaming when i have time, i think this is way more healthy as i tend to get stuck up in games and want to do only that.

This is hardcore drug guys!

Best thing I did was sell it so I dont come back. Liked the game, didnt like the time I had to put in, the guilds I had to suck up to, and backache.

I tend to alternate between being addicted and hating it totally :p

Usually its best to take a break and play other games then maybe go back and roll a class you havnt played before.

WoW may not be everyone's cup of tea but its now very polished and certainly full of things to do that dont involve pvp and grinding if that turns you off.
