Has anyone else "gone off" WoW?

I have a 70 Pally, Warrior, Priest and a hunter on the way

I'm really looking forward to wrath of the lich king

I got a bit bored with raiding recently so am taking a break and levelling my hunter

Just thought i'd update...

I took a month off, then went back, played for about a week then got bored and cancelled again.

Not sure if i'll bother with WotLK as I don't seem to have the "drive" to play anymore. I'll see when the time comes.

I had this problem (finally, I might add) back in January. The habit has finally been kicked though since I've had no intention of re-subscribing. Saying that, I accidentally strolled across the new WotLK level 80 talents and oh-em-gee, the temptation was actually rather strong to persuade me back . Gonna fight it though

I have just recently unsubscribed. I will most likely give WotlK a try, in the hope that DK's are as fun as they look. And if they aren't, then - Well, i have an account with 3 level 70's going to a good home lol

I loved WoW to the point i used to spend ages getting to Warlord on the old system, PvP was my one true love until TBC came and added new abilities, i was one who even moaned about the Cross Realm PvP because it took the fun out of the community.

I had the same feel after i got my rogue and mage to 70, i could'nt play it anymore and everything just went dull, their was that and a lot of problems with too many silly things going on in my realm, so i took the chance up and quit to get on with exams which i passed.

Taking War up soon but i now know my limit and hopefully wont play the game to death as i will need early nights.

I quit in september last year, never been back to paid sub.

now i just play on a free realm, where my rogue is just stupidly geared with custom items, i have 24k hp, 2x 400dps swords, great armor etc.

Just fun for a mess about :)

75x experience rate, ability to buy tier 6 at vendors for tokens etc.

wowtopia.net

I poured a lot of free time into my wow "career" before having to start my new job and got most of the tier 6 items and had just about completed sunwell etc. Got really bored of it and started to hate the idea of having to throw so much time into playing the game to get gold, consumables and then the 4 hours per night spare to raid sunwell to try and kill some silly hard boss.

Been off it 7 weeks now and not looked back since

i havnt quit wow but iv got tired of raiding 25 man raids. A few weeks ago i just thought this is so boring i cant do this anymore, and just didnt have the desire to go through the same isntance each week to kill the same boring trash and fight the same over farmed boring bosses so i quit my guild and went casual, i did everything up to felmyst in sunwell. im hopeing to make some kind of laid back small 10man raiding guild in wotlk!

You all sound like smack-heads!:p

Personally, I can't stand the idea of wow/most other MMOs. They're nice to play and can be fun, but the time they demand is ridiculous.

I can play what I like to call 'real' RPGs for hours on end, because they have a constantly moving story line and you don't have to put in silly time to get anything out of it.

Though when I do go through an RPG, I do like to do everything in it I can, but it's on my own schedule, I come and go as I please.

Then the monthly subscription, I'd see it as paying for something you're not actually getting. You're paying ( what is it for wow? £10?) montly to waste your own time doing things that won't really benefit you.

I play my RPGs because I think the story is great, and that's why I play them, but I wouldn't want to pay money to waste my time on grinding away when it won't really result in anything but a bigger e-peen/ego from within the game.

There's nothing to be proud of being the best on a server in my opinion, it just shows you've wasted a huge amount of time for something that you haven't really got.

Anyway, rant over :p I just really dislike the idea of MMOs and the time they suck up in my opinion, I'd love to play the matrix online to see what the story is like, but I'm not paying and putting in masses of hours for little gain.

Because you only played it for a few hours

Hence why you have seen very little the game has to offer, other than startup areas to teach people the noob basics.

That's something I don't get about MMO players, they insist you have to play the game for good few hours before you get anything from it, which to me is pointless.

I got into the Age of Conan beta with a friend, and I was gonna give it a try, but could never be bothered, then it went gold, and was released. The same friend insisted I played it with him by buying it and taking out a sub of it, which I refused to do. I said if he wants me to play, then he'll have to give me a trial key (he said he had a few) and I try it for a few hours.

That still wasn't good enough, he complained that I needed to play it for a lot longer than a few hours to see if I really like the game or not, in the end I didn't bother touching it at all. I'm not gonna force myself to play a game for 10+ hours just to see if I like it or not, some games are finished in 10 hours!

The "starting areas" in WoW are a couple, maybe three or four hours, even when you're just starting out.

10 hours should be plenty time to see if you really like an MMO or not.

I've tried other MMOs, my pick of the rest being LotRO. I just don't see how you can go from thousands per server on WoW to a few hundred on another game. It was like a ghost town. Pity, as there was nothing wrong with the gameplay, but it was impossible to get groups for the stacks of group quests available.

I see 10 hours as too long to just see if you *like* the game, especially if you're not having fun in those 10 hours.

I played WoW for 9 months after release and got a shaman to lvl 56, then got bored and quit...

Went back a year later and levelled a druid to 35, got bored and quit...

6 months ago decided to pick it up again, joined the OcUK guild and levelled another shaman to currently 59, for some reason i'm enjoying it more than ever, i only play about 5 hours a week and it's been painfully slow but it's really grabbed me again, maybe it's because i'm not taking it so seriously.

To be honest i was starting to get bored again since i've done it all before, but since getting above 56 i can now see areas that i didn't the firstn time around, and it's really interested me all over again. I think it helps that i've been playing W3 in between, it really does add to the gameplay, i used to hate the plaguelands but now i think they're loretastic :D
