Has anyone else not had the 2004 update yet ?

I've been experimenting with 20H2 on a spare drive with my main computer. I have to say that it does feel snappier than 1909. At first I wasn't sure and thought it was placebo effect from a new installation. But some tasks do perform quicker on 20H2 than my current 1909 installation.

Maybe it's time for an an early Christmas present - but not before a complete backup! :D

I got the prompt for the 2004 update today so set it to install and went away to do other things. popped back upstairs to see a blank screen and the PC still on. Restarted and it attempted to recover the installation. Rinse and repeat another 4 times then got a message saying 'undoing last update' Any chance we can get updates again for Windows 7. :o

My Lenovo laptop still says "waiting until V2004 ready for your computer" - never I expect!

What make is yours Derek W?

I've been going through this shuffle for months on my msi laptop.
Was hoping there'd be a way to just skip to 20H2 tbh.

I just checked on my updates and its the 20H2 that's ready to be updated but it appears that it might be that which I'm having problems with not the 2004?

"20H2" contains "2004" if you haven't installed 2004 already (the updates are all cumulative I believe). So skipping 2004 isn't really possible.

i must admit i don't understand how this 2004/20H2 stuff works. i have two puters, both got the 2004 "is available" message and i ignored both since it wasn't stable at the time. since then, i've rebuild one of the puters, as per my threads here. that one is still 1909 and is now offering me 20H2 having apparently decided it doesn't want to give my 2004 first. the other puter, i installed 2004 on, it went on no probs at all other than a stupid download time due to my crappy broadband and a longish install time, but it hasn't since told me that the 20H2 add-on is available.

MS warn against this and Lenovo owners who have tried various ways have ended up with BSODs! Caution if MS wont let you via the standard route. 1909 is supported until next Easter re security updates

Microsoft shouldn't really have rolled out something that was an issue for a lot of users but they did it anyway. I haven't delved into what was causing everyone to have issues though.

Meh one of my systems basically just did this though a bit less convoluted. It has now gone back to ignoring the update even exists for however long that lasts before it tries again :s

How anyone couldn't see this problem coming (well they probably did and don't care) with the implementation of updates I don't know.

20H2 finally appeared for me this morning, so just installed.

Took about a minute (if that), after the restart, configuring updates, went straight to 56%, then my desktop appeared, so thought it hadn't gone on, so checked, and yup, its on, got the new icons etc..., and checked the winver, which now says 20H2, and the updates, which says it was successful, piece of **** :p

Checked a few games etc... for any issues, and all fine still. :)
