has anyones student loan gone in yet ?

We can enrol online for about a month before we actually start :D
I get it 28th, 1st day of new year

I meant the in person enrolement when the course starts, of course it will be different for each uni but I don't believe there is a set time that every student will get there loan through.

You must have a job as well surely? Or another source of income. I didn't realise these were enough to buy good BMWs with and still have enough left to live on :p

E30s are cheap, more or less a 1:1 swap for my car's current value (maybe a bit more chucked into the pot to get a better example).
And other money is covering some other expenses at the moment :/

EDIT:
Just to add, you do realise E30 is a BMW from '82 to like '94 right?

Sorry I'm not big on details with these things.

If the notification is correct, the amount I'm getting will barely cover the rent and bills on a bedsit within travelling distance of my university.

Oxford Brookes? Was supposed to go to that today, but couldn't muster up the effort to go along - and I am a fresher!

Yer, went and had free food with a bunch of other 3rd year mates yesterday and today :D Can't beat free dominos, free other pizza, and free um spicy sausage burgers.
Oh, and free "local" Larger/Ale :D

And how LAZY can you get to not go and get free food?
I mean, the only excuse you are allowed is me in my freshers year, which was the fact that I was really, really hungover, and I still went to see what was on (just didn't eat anything).

I hate to say it, but I got my Student Loan yesterday. :o

Enrolled about 6 weeks ago, scanned form Monday, loan Tuesday.

I love it how our uni doesn't even bother with form scanning, they just want to know the number on the form and that's it :D

I'm baffled as to why the government lend £4000 a year to people living with their parents while the less fortunate get fobbed off as usual. Still, par for the course in this regime...

Erm travel expenses?? also people who live at home only get £2700 from the loans.

Not if you're at a London institution, maximum £4000 depending on income.

Travel costs? Well, you could just live near the place if it is that far ;) then the loan would make sense.

Just cos uni people live at home with their parents, what does that mean ? Do you honestly thing parents pay for things ?

I remember not being able to get EMA due to my parents earning too much, did my parents give me EMA ? No. Did they charge me rent to live there ? Yes.

Its always the children with rich parents who suffer financially (middle class, so not loaded but not poor either) just like I cannot get any more student loan due to them earning too much...do I see any of that money ? Nope.

Erm what, its the rich that pay for the poor to goto uni, we get nothing from the government, we haven't all of our lives.

Clearly under the grand assumption just because you've done well in life you have all of this money to pay for such things, whilst this would be true in an ideal world it also makes the assumption the rich should live the same as the poor and do nowt with the rest of the cash.

Its a loan buddy, what exactly are you getting upset about? My entire point is I don't get grants thrown at me left and right, even though I paid into the system previously.

The nature of the wealth redistribution happening here means it doesn't seem to go to the right people. Ideally it would be scrapped but I can't see that happening any time soon...

Can't the poor people live with parents, are you saying ontop of course fees being payed they should give a bigger student loan to the poor?

The point is the less well off get other grants (which they don't have to repay) whilst the top earners don't get any of this and only have the option of a student loan.

I got no grants, i didn't take the option of a student loan, my parents just forked out the cost for everything, now is it correct that the better off who not only have contributed more to the countrys growth, via jobs and taxes should be forced to fork out yet more money?
