Has Crytek swapped to AMD?

Under The Stairs!
I have been wondering for some time now whether Crysis 3 was still tied with Nvidia due to AMD striking a deal with AMD's Gaming Evolved program.

Tried the big G for some info, but to no avail.

The new Never Settle Reloaded pack has C3 bundled with the 79's and then I came across this:

The new Tomb Raider title which we covered at AMD’s ExtravaLANza and BioShock Infinite’s association with Gaming Evolved have already been discussed but they’re supplemented by a somewhat shocking addition: Crysis 3.

Long a title which has been under the auspices of NVIDIA’s The Way It’s Meant To Be Played program, Crytek seems to have switched sides so to speak.

and

One of the most important aspects of these titles is their compatibility with AMD-specific technologies. Supposedly, every one of them will be released with native support for Crossfire and Eyefinity alongside optimizations for the GCN architecture while Tomb Raider will also have HD3D features added for stereoscopic viewing.

AMD GE have also released this:

Never found anything from Nvidia regarding C3.

There is also the possibility of both camps 'claiming' that it's a GE/TWIMTBP-a la BF3, which was widely regarded(wrongly) as a TWIMTBP title.

Has anyone seen any conformation anywhere?

Probably both. Crytek aren't stupid to alienate the other half of the PC gaming community. That said, maybe they could actually help code crisis to not run like dog poo for a change...

Well if you're running it on the system in your sig ofcourse it's gonna run like dog poo with a 1gb card and a CPU that can't be overclocked. It's a demanding game, ran fine for me on max settings when i tried the new beta.

Well if they have then no doubt (depending on how well it runs) it will boost sales (especially if it runs like the first Crysis).

I don't know why people are getting excited tbh. It seems to have been rushed out considering how long it has been since C2 (IE not that long at all).

I just want Fallout now. I think it's just going to be called Fallout given the patent they have applied for and got.

AMD got into bed with EA a few Months ago, Crysis3 is an EA title.

I would not be surprised if this happens more and more now, not just because of the AMD + EA thing but also because AMD are now in all 3 of the new Consoles.

Game Developers are going to start Optimising for GCN.

How do you know what Resolution he running at? if its 720p or 900p then that Rig in his Sig is more than enough.

Not everyone needs or using 1080p/1200p most people are happy to run 720p and 30fps.

And you have no chance running crysis 3 Max settings on a single card, yes you will run it but its far from playable.

Indeed I run at 900p. I was talking about the Crysis games in general then number 3.

I should know how it ran when I tried it. Here's a video of someone running it maxed out on a 680:

Never trust a video that dont show its Res and in game settings. To run Crysis 3 MAX settings thats every single setting to its limit is not possible 8MSAA all Very high

No chance, note when watching the link how his screen gets slow down thats the Frame rate dropping like hell not playable.

You can clearly tell just by looking at the video it's maxed out, also TXAA is the highest setting and this helps greatly with performance compared to 8xMSAA and has near enough the same effect. Also fraps reduces fps so that could count for the slowdowns. When I played the lowest my frames went were 40, was it noticeable? Yes, was it still playable? Yes.

The Frame drops on this game happen when a lot is going on, watching that video he playing hunter mode witch is the least demanding mode you spend most time waiting.
The other mode is when you can test the performance when a lot of action is happening around the drop points and them big robot things is also on screen.

Its them frame drops that make it unplayable for me. running at 60fps to be hit with a drop to 40fps is unplayable for me.

Well then I guess we have a difference in sensitivity to fps. 40fps isn't great but it wasn't unplayable I could still aim well enough to kill.

Yes it could also be something to do with this Latency thing AMD have released not long ago. Something Nvidia cards seem to run smoother at lower frame rates and they looking into it with 13.3 drivers I think.

Good point, I've actually noticed that at lower frame rates since switching to the green side. If AMD can sort it all out and they still remain price/performance king with the new 8 series I would definitely think about switching back.
