Has Crytek swapped to AMD?

@Matt,

You.gif

:D

I was hoping it was going to have the new AMD DX11 tech(but it's too late for that, unless they work it in at a later date in a patch).

The new tech is in Tombraider btw if you didn't know already for those interested.;)

@ACEOWNER,

8xMSAA is the highest setting, TXAA good as it is, is lower IQ. :)

Question for you if you don't mind though is, using TXAA instead of MSAA, do you still get the distant 'grid effect'(best I could come up with to describe) if you know what I'm talking about, that you get with MSAA?

@Andy,

I hope your wrong, but I know it will probably be the usual case of-Your high end dual card setup can't handle it@1080p so you better invest in the next greatest gpu or two that appears.:(

Shame if the SP runs like mush-unless it merits gpu meltdown quality gfx, which going by the beta, it might, might just be.

I'm not complaining. PC gamers are few and far between these days so if this wakes up the masses and gets them wasting money on hardware it can only be a good thing.

We get so few killer apps as PC gamers these days it's laughable. It doesn't help that it's coming out on consoles either really.

It's good for every one when a game like that comes out. Really gets people wasting money to beat each other meaning more invested in new stuff for us all :)

Even the case market has gone a bit stagnant of late with every one putting out ugly boxes full of mesh.

More importantly, hopefully someone is telling them Manhattan is an island, not a floating city so rendering an ocean under the entire city all the time is somewhat wasting resources ;)

Portalling/vis testing water like that when you have a large amount of it in an open environment can be more costly than just rendering the whole thing in the first place.

Sorry, but that looks really jerky to me, every movement is a stuttering mess, i would even call that unplayable....

That is fraps recording at 30 fps that makes it look jerky but yer, from looking at that vid, it does look that way.

I tried this on 1 680 and full settings and it ran sweet.

This was with everything maxed out and including the highest SMAA on 1 680 and 1920*1080 and without doubt, it ran very smooth.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
18961, 300000, 40, 94, 63.203

This was with highest TXAA settings

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
11436, 174300, 57, 75, 65.611

Very decent frames and more than playable. The one thing I can't understand though...How on earth do you play with only 1 screen :p :D

Thanks for backing my point up Greg. I don't know why people call others out for not being able to run games max settings when they haven't even used the card in question.

TBF, the guy who did the video should have said what res and what he was using (speed to record) in his description, as it does look jerky.

I have run it with 3 screens and 2 680's (not max SMAA because I am VRAM limited) and it still runs very smooth. Very pleased with the new drivers though and looking forward to the release of this game.

Not overly fussed about the MP though. That hunter format is just poo IMO.

Perhaps I could have found a better video out of the load on YouTube clearly showing a 680 being able to max it. Saying that with some people I could probably show them it running in real life and they'd still tell me it isn't smooth.

It may be due to recording, all i know is it looks exactly the same as it does if i set it to Very High + 4x MSAA on my 7870, perfectly smooth running in a straight line, as soon as i turn;... stutter...grind..bOing

If he's having problems getting it to run smooth while recording he should set the recording to run on an external Drive, and use FRAPS, which uses very little CPU and has a minimal hit on performance.

I have my 7950 Overclocked to the same speed as 680 stock so thats why I was saying its unplayable. But this could be driver issue or like we agreed Nvida lower frame rate = smoother gameplay.

But for me it was far from playable.

Maybe I will record it with my triple screens via a vid camera. Mind you, I would have to tidy my desk up and that would take forever :p

Fraps is a big performance killer mate, Dxtroy is the better recording software.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if he is Recording @30fps it dont matter because Youtube is locked @30fps

Never had a problem using FRAPS, MSI AB pre 2.2 was pretty bad.

never heard of Dxtroy, will give that a try, thanks for the heads up mate :)

AMD got into bed with EA a few Months ago, Crysis3 is an EA title.

I would not be surprised if this happens more and more now, not just because of the AMD + EA thing but also because AMD are now in all 3 of the new Consoles.

Game Developers are going to start Optimising for GCN.

Well thats Nvidias own fault really, but they wont care they have Blizzard which still has millions of fans, i use to be one but since D3 NO GO!
