It’s all in the news at the moment in regards to the price of fuel, but in reality is it making your life any harder? Have you had to do anything to help with the cost? Have you had to cut back on any luxuries so you can keep fuel in your car and get to work? Or do you think that fuel price impacts you in little or no way at all?

Not really.

I'm loaded.

How many more threads? Seriously?

Yes its expensive, yes this means you must now go and spend £10,000,000,000,000,000 on a crap diesel and save 10p a week, end of thread.

I must appologise dsb, sensible convorsation while easyrider is around is very difficult.

In answer to your comment, at the moment im ok. Ive just finished uni so havent done much driving, and havent got a job yet so dont know how much things will change should i be comuting a long way.

It has however effected my family. My dad is a taxi driver, and as you would expect the price rise has effected the income from this. His current car is a 5 year old Diesel 406 with almost 300,000 on the clock. Fuel is a very big expense for him, and it has effected his income since there hasnt been a comparible rise in taxi fair prices. The issue around the increase in fuel prices, from my point of view atleast, isnt the prices on there own. all prices rise, its a fact of life, what is causing the issue is that the cost of fuel is rising faster than any increase in directly related income. I assume it affects all fuel based industries, such as haulage etc, but dont know for fact.

Yes diesel is bad because only a petrol BMW has everything you need.

I am just miffed the real strain is on the general public as a cost while investors safeguard their money and the government taxes us more and gives nothing back to the country.

Think maybe you're picking on him a wee bit too much? I'm the same as him really.. my income while not in the 'loaded' category is quite unaffected by petrol prices, dosen't make or break me in any way.

Skeeter is clouding his judgement by easyrider hatred.

Sad really.

I know what you mean.

The extra cost in fuel is marginal over last year.

probably cost me 10 quid more for a round trip to manchester and back.

The difference is that you manage to explain this in a much less "middle finger in your face" fasion. And lets be honest, he isnt exactly known for his quality posts is he.

awww c'mon guys just hug and make up! End of the day animosity is no good and its just a forum..put down the coffees and go to sleep :D

before i drove, 12k was plenty for my spending style

now i drive to work 18k is plenty :/

i really feel the difference of owning a car

Still cheaper and less demoralising than getting the bus.

Make it so that I can get to work in the middle of nowhere on a Sunday at 6am and half the price it would cost in the car I might think about it, until then the car is staying even if it went to £2.00 / litre

The cost of fuel (read Diesel) put me out of a job early last summer, so what effect the price today has on hauliers scares me.

As for the cost to a general motorist, it certainly ranked quite highly as a reason for me to get rid of my previous 728i BMW which whilst being relatively frugal for the size / weight of car was still costing me in excess of £65 per week - this was back in October last year.

That said, the way Diesel is shooting up in price really makes me wonder why I bothered to look up a Diesel Mondeo as a replacement and I can see myself going back to a petrol in the near future (although tbh, probably a large engines gas guzzler!)

Yes it has affected me, really affected to the point where it hurts? Not quite but its getting there.
