Has making a pass at a woman just become illegal?

At least such a law will rule out taking claims of wolf whistling and overt ogling seriously from all but the fittest bints. Around here that probably leaves about ten who could have such an accusation taken seriously unless the alleged perpetrator had a white stick and a guide dog.

My wife tried to walk 4km home one night and was catcalled, had 3 cars try and stop for her to "get in" and a bus stopped for her and the driver said she should not be walking home at all and dropped her at our house. She arrived shaking and in tears. Just because she tried to walk home. She didn't go out wearing a dress for male attention, she went out to have fun with her friends and to feel good.

You seem obliged to mention her clothing, why? Are you saying her choice of what to wear had bearing on 3 (presumably men) stopping to speak to her, and being cat called was maybe due to her clothing? Can you describe or show it?

Whilst in an ideal world, one in which what someone wears causes zero prejudgement, we are in reality living in far from such a utopia, and what we wear has profound implications on how more general and immediate views are formed.

By ignoring such social idiosyncrasies it's sadly very easy to bring increased risks or prejudices upon oneself.

Just like the example someone earlier mentioned about wearing an expensive Rolex watch. If someone chooses to push the risk boundaries it can, even if it should not, have consequences.

To Cavalierly say to hell with that, I am wearing a prominently displayed £20,000 watch, or a short skirt, one makes the choice to potentially suffer adverse risks in modern society by putting your "wares" on public display. It would be nieve to dispute this.

It's not me, a man nearer seventy than sixty with a disdain for girls dressed like hookers they have to worry about. The statistics show that those the RNLI are ferrying ashore daily are the ones that are most likely to assault your partners or children I'm afraid, and yes, even a bit of leg gets `em going. Some areas have become so bad for it that the police and councils have tried to hide the issue, rather than address it, be careful where you let the "free to dress as they wish" ladies go a wandering.

We are where we are, get used to it, there's a near infinite lot more to come the way things are at the moment, Colonel Ghaddafi warned us, we took no notice. I would imagine this proposed change in the law is to try and give some additional powers to the plod when the current hotel stayers are released into the general public. People are protesting in increasing numbers about them, the cops need some more ammunition to try and keep the lid on things.

The wife's just done some TA work with 13 and 14 year old boys and girls in a ropey school, some girls have nails so long they can't hold a pen properly, and sport false eyelashes worn with an abundance of make up. When she asked a senior staff member why it's allowed she got "They won't come to school at all if we try and stop it, then it looks bad with OFSTED".

Describing most of them as "feral" she experienced blatant indiscipline, outrageous sexual provocation amongst them and to male staff, whilst the foreigners start talking to and about staff in some Asian tongue if challenged, obviously insultingly. Commonly open threats are made to staff members. I could start a whole thread about what she has experienced, but suffice to say once i got the full gist of how the dump is run by a bunch of liberal wets I stopped her going back this week.

She thinks she's persuaded me not to take a trip out to see the head, but the jury is still very much out... Some people need their ears pinning back. I am quite proud how she stood up to them however, even if some of her so called colleagues looked aghast at how she handled the animals. And people say we must crack down on builders whistling at them....

Yea, you tell her. We can't have wives making their own decisions. :p

When she's told not to discipline a 15 year old "As they might get violent" and she responds "If anyone here lays a finger on me they'll be eating hospital food" and she then gets the cold shoulder from petrified colleagues, then she's out of there immediately. When it comes down to it I am the boss, period. She ain't wasting her time feeling intimidated by some kid that's been short of a few good beatings. She was actually only too keen to leave, but probably felt it defeatist. I think she may be back in a decent small local school in a couple of weeks.

Although this is perhaps targeted at wolf-whistling and other generally lame attempts at picking up women in the street who are otherwise going about their day I wonder how it can be tallied with the whole trans rights vs radical feminists battles that happen seemingly every time some of the latter group of women gather to meet or hear a speaker.

If a builder/white van driver whistling, beeping, or shouting out lewd comments is potentially causing alarm or destress to the point where law enforcement need be involved then presumably also things like:

"TERF scum off our streets", or posters saying "Suck my ****", "Punch TERFs" etc.. directed by trans rights protestors to feminist gathering/meeting would cause even more harassment, alarm or distress.

Gotta wonder if this law will be selectively enforced though - cracking down on that, arguably even more threatening, behaviour doesn't prevent protesting as protesting doesn't necessitate screaming abuse or attempting to intimidate others.... just as approaching women/making a pass doesn't necessitate following them when they're not interested or shouting out lewd comments at them or whistling etc..

It's potentially an ill thought out minefield. Unnecessary and open to abuse and misinterpretation, covered totally adequately by a raft of existing legislation. In other words, bleedin' typical current day nonsense ...

Fun loving men, let's face it, this law is a

law :)

I don't think that has much relevance to the fact that women are constantly harassed and almost all of them are traumatised by it even if they don't notice.

I think you would have me seeking the girl out who gently moved my hands off her arse on that Manchester dance floor to make "reparations" :)

I always hold the door open, and 99% of the time I just get a 'thank you' or 'cheers duck'. On the occasions I get a whinging femherroid with an attitude problem they get a quick "**** you then".

I have found an effective reply to those women who harangue you for holding a door open or offering them a seat is to just say, "I am sorry if I offended you, I was taught to always do that for elderly people". Works best in a loud voice on the 45 to 60 age groups.

Given your posts in this thread I'm surprised you don't have a Michael Kors shaped dent in your face tbh.

Who the hell is Michael Kors? I have had a broken nose a couple of times, but not from some woman. First time I was probably looking for trouble and found it, second time my reactions were just too slow, an age thing. I have now realised I am far too old to fight, but I'm not too proud to consider paying someone else to do it for me ;)

I'm glad someone see's what I was getting at. :)

The idea that because someone dye's their hair they can be "pre-judged" to having a Mental Illness is laughable and utterly ignorant of the truth.

Worse still is the (apparent) suggestion that those with Mental Illnesses are somehow "not worth bothering with", which for most suffers of Mental Illness is the most detrimental thing possible.

Plus as you rightly say, there are tens of thousands of people who dye their hair blonde their entire lives, or those who do it to cover up the grey - I wonder whether they are perceived as "worth bothering with" ?

Just bizarre.

I have the need to ask you a personal question, forgive me. What are your feet like? Constantly walking on tiptoe, as if on broken glass must take its toll? I'm afraid, like it not, someone with bright green hair is still perceived by many as someone at best eccentric.

No they're not. How many times do I have to point this out? The attitudes you're claiming you don't like are on the rise in this country.

In another thread the liberal left are whining about Elon Musk buying Twitter, on another forum they are having seizures about Suella Braverman, our Home Secretary, and the probability of what they fear will be fairly right wing Republicans pushing Biden out of the White House. I won't mention the costs of keeping down "neanderthals" to our east.... :) Looks like they are still of some significance and not without clout or leverage to me.
