Has the PS3's time come?

I'm not looking to change anyones opinon here, This is just what I think, A Dedicated PC for movie play back, Seems pointless.
A HTPC is a godly thing to behold and it's not dedicated unless you make it that way. :) :)

suppose you might have to hang about to click wmp into full screen which could be your new extra step lol
Two words: Media Centre. :D

pc's wont surpass stand alone players for HD playback for some time to come, if at all. unfortunately the ps3 is just too quick, too compatible and too easy......its just too good at it. and it is the sole reason i dont even bother playing blurays on my pc now.

I don't play blu rays, probably will get a player one day.

I couldn't live without the immense number of filtering/scaling options on PC though.

for low res stuff, definitely. i couldnt agree more. for dvd polayback my ps3 is very close to my pc using ffdshow. for hd stuff....pc doesnt come close. i dont have issues with blurays not working without first having to update the software, and i dont have issues with surround channels being swapped around either, on the ps3. LPCM is nice too!
