Haswell Overclock Thread

Yup, I am. This is one of the best air coolers, and seems to do fine at over 1.25v with Haswell. I prefer if over watercooling as it's quieter.

I'm still holding off returning the Asus board in case a BIOS fix comes along in the next few days, so I haven't been tweaking it. I've been running stable 4.5GHz at 1.26v. At first it looked like 4.6GHz would work at 1.70v but I had the occasional freeze. Based on that I'm guessing I can probably get 4.7GHz at around 1.30v.

Looks like my first venture into Haswell is fairly successful.

OEM 4770K

4.6GHz at stock voltage.
5.0GHz boot into windows at 1.275v also runs SuperPi 1M fine
5.0GHz at 1.28v runs SuperPi 32M

Temps are not good as its on basic air at the moment, so I will not try serious stress testing yet, but looking good me thinks.

That looks to be a great chip Simon :)

I've got a new 4770K on its way tomorrow, fingers crossed it's better than my first.

Looking good! so far havent manage to boot with 5.0Ghz.

Aesthetically as well as for performance I would go for the h100i. Could be quieter for the same level of performance as well (of course this depends on setup and fans etc)

You've still got the sound of the pump, even with super quiet fans. Unless I put mine under load it's absolutely silent.

cant hear my pump at all. not when the case is closed.and i can play most games with it staying silent.

water > air for noise and performance. unless you have a terrible setup.

plus i assume your gpu fan makes noise? mine has no gpu fan

Sealed water Cooling loops like the h100 have noisier pumps than, for example, a d5 pump. I have the latter and whilst it can be noisy on its highest setting, turning it down makes it virtually silent.

sorry but you are wrong. you cant generalise 'watercooling noise' as there are lots of variations. and i can guarantee mine is quieter than yours. ;)

I said usually :)

Mine is literally silent (even open case) at low loads, the fan is something like 20rpm, and it can be run passively too if you're not overclocking.
