Hatred

To be fair, MW2 had that one bit where you gunned down civilians. I think the issue with this is that they have made the civs too human. You empathize with them too strongly so it feels wrong to kill them. Perhaps that's not a bad thing though. I've mown down thousands of civs in gta, but I never felt as repelled as I did watching that trailer

In MW2 its not designed as such to gratify the player (and you can do the whole segment without firing a shot IIRC) GTA is a more debatable case personally I played it for the storyline and didn't really intentionally mow anyone innocent down and even then it is mostly cartoonised violence.

This game atleast from the trailers appears to gratify something very dark as the central theme of the gameplay (I've not looked into it in any depth) and is about as tasteless as a paedophile simulator.

I will buy this.

Different strokes, different folks.

Adult entertainment for the win, not like it will be classified as "U".

Strip it down, you have the basic protagonist vs antagonist plot with the protagonist doing all he can to victor over the antagonist (Police) with civillians just getting in the way.

IF Postal/GTA were Pandoras box, this is what happens when you open it, BUT, do not blame it, blame whoever opened the box.

Whoever purchased Postal/GTA (Me included) have no right to now say "Hey, this is too far".

The problem is, stupid, clueless parents will let "little Johnny" play, probably buy it for his birthday, then complain to the Daily Mail how "bad" it is.

It is ADULT ENTERTAINMENT you stupid ****.

Why do I have a feeling that the final game will be different and those 'civilians' are not actually civilians? Good marketing ploy?

Not sure about postal but there is a lot more to GTA than gratuitous violence against innocent people especially there is no focus on violence against children both of which are the main (possibly only) theme of this game.

It's a game, who cares.

Friday 13th movie franchise made quite a number of films about violence towards children.

Yes but our parents' generation (I'm 27, parents are almost 60) are far more clued up about movie certification than games IMO. Many probably have no clue what most games are about.

I didn't see any big focus on violence against children (I might not have spotted it). It's still pretty wack though. MW2 that section was totally there for gratification. They could have given you a pistol, but they gave you an LMG for that part. So you could mow down loads of civs. And tbh I enjoyed it in the same way that I occasionally enjoy owning a bunch of low ranks on some game server. It isn't right or fair, but I still enjoyed a bit of easy winning.

The only reason I think this is any different is that the civs are much more convincing and pitiable, and there is no other objectives besides killing them and the cops.

I have mixed feelings about this, but generally it just seems a terrible idea.

I'll just mention that Manhunt is one of my favourite console games ever made. The gameplay is superb, the atmosphere is particularly great and the story was interesting enough. I had no problem going about killing people with plastic bags and all sorts of weapons in the game.

But this game really does seem a little pathetic, it's going out of it's way to be controversial for the sake of it with no real substance. There is no original gameplay here, the whole game relies on the gimmick of shock value. I'd probably draw a comparison that Hatred is attempting to be the serbian film of games, trying too hard to shock while not delivering anything that's actually that interesting.

Not for me.

looks awful but at the same time if i was 13 year old with daddy issues id think it was the most awesome thing ever. luckily I'm not and the idea of playing the part of some cringey goth with no social skills doesn't appeal to me.

the devs must be a right bunch of try hards.

It will be 18+, it's their parents fault if they allow their little kids to play it.

The devs are just pushing the boundaries on this that's all, after all aren't video games generally about doing things you can't/shouldn't do in the real world? In before a shooting happens and this game gets the blame because they found out the guy watched the trailer.

Lol such a judgemental post.

If someone got gratification from it thats another matter it was part of the storyline and a pistol wouldn't have really fitted with the kind of setup a terrorist group planning that kind of attack would have gone with.
