Okay so i got myself a lovely Nvidia570 for christmas and now that i can play much more recourse hungry games my computer has become incredibly loud.
I am almost certain its my processor fan that is generating the most noise when playing games but im not one hundred percent. The computer is reasonably quiet when not playing games though and only gets loud once im in game.

I know that this is because the fans need to compensate from the generated heat and was wondering if anyone knew weather or not getting a new cpu cooler would make a difference. im using the stock one atm. I dotn want to spend over £40 if i can keep under that mark but dont know myself how to tell what is good and weather or not it would be better than the stock.

Heres my specs so you can make sense of all this:

MSI MS 7599
AMD Phenom 2 X4Core Black 955
4 Gig of corsier 1600+ speed memory
Nvidia Asus GTX570 Gpu

A few games a play just for comparison:
Settlers 7
Civ 5
Crysis wars
batman arkham asylum
Dragon Age

Id massively appreciate any help anyone can give.

*UPDATE*

Ive had the 902 for for about a month now and my processor still sounds the same, taking the side off helps allot but i shouldn't have to take the side of a case with £100 worth of fans in it.

i think im going to buy the AKASA AK CCX Venom cooler, can anyone confirm this is a good choice?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-072-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=1395

im all for suggestions on cheaper or better coolers.
And as i say i don't know much about cpu coolers and i don't even over clock.

Again Id massively appreciate any help anyone can give.

Yeh they will be quieter, especially if used with the cpu pwm fan header, the venom has a fast fan on it, which is loud at full speed, but if the cpu is at stock speeds, i don't think it would reach maximum fan speed.

have you tried going into the bios to see if there is a smartfan setting or any settings related to the fan speed?

if your temps are not a problem and you are not going to overclock there may be no need for an aftermarket heatsink.

have a look through the bios not sure what it would be under ( maybe system monitor) mine say somethink along the lines of

at 30c fan speed 25%
at 50c fan speed 100%

i have the option to change these settings or set the fan speed as locked at a single speed.

download core temp if you dont already have it, run it, play a few games so you can see what temps you are getting. it will give you the highest and lowest. from there you can make a decision.

Yeah, you probably should upgrade the stock cooler of your cpu but that's not going to solve the problem. I don't think that there's any 3rd party 570 coolers atm, so you'll just have to turn the fan speed down as much as possible without frying your chip.

EDIT: Oh I see. Are you sure it's your cpu cooler that's loud? Are you sure it's not the 570? Load up a game, take your pc side panel off and try to locate the noise.

should never assume :)

you may not need one and you would save yourself some money. if your temps are low and you have access to the fan speed you can reduce it, therfore eliminating the original problem, and no money spent.

Why would replacing your cpu cooler make your GTX 570 quieter

we think the main problem is the cpu fan, although you have brought up a valid point.

if your pc has only got louder since you installed the 570 than that may be the problem not the cpu.

sorry, people posting as i am writting. ignor this post

Im not to knowledgeable with hardware but the problem is the loud cpu fan, im sure there cant be anything wrong with my 570 its brand new. (As is the the rest of the computer since about October I upgraded everything from AM2 to AM3 then proceeded to just recently get the fast memory, then for christmas the 570)

What airflow fans are you using. It may be that there is a heat bubble in the processor area which is not being exhausted properly. Quite likely if the processor sits above a hot GPU.
A 120mm exhaust fan akasa apache or similar could improve things radically and run quietly.

Come to think of it my airflow isnt great I have the iCute Gamer server case

The front fan broke and now theres nothing there but theres is now an extra back fan pulling air out, the side fan pulls air in and my case is on my desk

Was thinking of getting the antec 902 next week regardless, it may help as its airflow is brilliant

would definatly recomend the antec 902, i have just upgraded to the 900 and have seen a lot better results + there is hardly any noise.

Ice delete the link its against forum rules as its a competitor site.

But yeh a decent airflow will help, but stock coolers are not the best, so test with new case, and go from there.

No probs, did'nt want u getting into trouble, hope the new case helps, as decent cases are always good.

Atleast everything will have space to breath then, and u may or may not need a new cooler, but only testing will judge that.
