Have console sales gone the way you predicted?

As title. All the next gen consoles have been out for awhile, and I am totally amazed at how well the wii has done. I predicted a short burst of sales and not much more but really seems to have taken off. Also I expected the ps3 to do badly at first, but again... not this badly! The 360 is the only console that is in the possition I would have imagined it a year ago.

How correct were your predictions? Are you suprised by any success / failure of the major three? Or are you a big know it all and everything is as expected? :p

Only the Wii shocked me, I still don't count it as a serious console :o

:edit:Will probably be buying one soon :o

I expected the PS3 to be much more popular, and the Wii to be less popular, expectations for the 360 are about spot on for me.

I'm actually a little surprised the 360 hasn't sold more - I guess that's with it only selling in two markets. It has such an amazingly strong line-up, one which is going to get a fair bit stronger over the next couple of months. I suppose all the games only cater for one demographic though so that's all it sells too.

Nope, I didn't expect the PS3 to sell anywhere near as well with such a **** poor lineup of titles. But then again...taking into account the Sony fanboyism, I guess it all adds up.

Microsoft have pretty much got the best console out there in terms of userbase, games and online service.

I am shocked at how well the 360 is doing, I expected the PS3 to do miles better.

360 would do better if japs realise the trooth :P

I pretty much predicted to my self the same its gone, 360 early head start decent games line up with MS money being thrown about, PS3 expensive compared to the 360 with lack of AAA titles, Wii has sold to families more than the PS3 or 360 which is expected, the Wii has had great advertisement, while the 360 has had none and doesn't need it but the PS3 has had none and I think it should have some but to what advantage.

Wii, yes

360, sort of, not sold as many as I thought by now - altho with Halo 3, mass effect, etc, no doubt come christmas itll be where I expect it to be

PS3, suprised me, sold more than I thought. I know its hardly sold any due to the price, but considering its so expensive, theres hardly any games out, and they have totally messed up the launch & console (Where the wii and 360 have been spot on) theyve done well, what is it 5 million worldwide? Not many, BUT, 360 has only sold 12 million despite it being better and being out twice as long, head to head 360 is winning so far, but its not doing as badly as Id expected, when some AAA titles finally come out, might actually do ok (altho this pains me to say :D)

Pretty much I think the Wii has done a bit better than i thought and the PS3 a bit worse. I kinda get the impression with the lack of advertising, hype and the Big AAA franchise games its almost like Sony released it a year earlier than they wanted too and are sort of forgetting about this year lol. Then again I expect by Christmas is over the PS3 to be at 7-8 million 360 at 12-14 million and the wii at 15+ million sold. Next year I think the trends will reverse with PS3 being the lead followed by the 360 and then the Wii, the Wii has had a huge drop off in sales worldwide over the last month, still outselling the rest though. GTA4 will push loads of consoles next year (360 and PS3), i think Halo 3's record taking first day of sales will be broken by GTA4 next year ( if launched on both consoles at the same time)

I disagree that the Wii will drop to 3rd place next year. As you pointed out, the Wii is still the biggest selling home console on a weekly/monthly basis and that is despite a chronic lack of AAA titles. The strong sales will continue once the likes of Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, and Smash Bros. are released (amongst many, many others).

Theres no way on earth the Wii will drop to third place, its just too popular with a new crowd of gamers who have no interest in ps3/xbox.

PS3 will never sell as well as the 360 or Wii, simply because its out of most peoples price range still, untill it drops to 250-300 its just not going to compete. Not to mention it has pretty much 1 or 2 decent games out at the moment tops :/

at the moment consul sales seem to be going roughly as I have a feeling they might after seeing the DS in action and hearing the price tag of the PS3. However, I was not expecting Wii to do quite as well as it has done.
I suspect that in the end the PS3 will no doubt at least catch up to the sales of the xbox 360, but probably not until it has a significant price drop.

The Wii has done far better than I thought, which is great. The 360 has also done better than anticipated, the PS3 considerably worse.
