Have console sales gone the way you predicted?

Theres no way on earth the Wii will drop to third place, its just too popular with a new crowd of gamers who have no interest in ps3/xbox.

PS3 will never sell as well as the 360 or Wii, simply because its out of most peoples price range still, untill it drops to 250-300 its just not going to compete. Not to mention it has pretty much 1 or 2 decent games out at the moment tops :/

Why do you think they're only 1 or 2 decent games on the PS3? Or dont multi platform games count? I was talking about next year not this one, GT5 will shift loads of consoles (2nd biggest selling game franchise of last gen) MGS4 will sell loads of consoles , as will the FF13 series.

Thought the PS3 would be doing better by now.

Honestly thought it would overtake the 360 within a year of release. If you swap the Wii and PS3 sales figures over, that's pretty much what I expected.

Only the Wii shocked me, I still don't count it as a serious console :o
Yep. It has almost gone according to my predictions. I knew the 360 would still have strong sales in 2007, but I never saw the Weeee doing so well. I also don't see it as a serious console. I know my mates don't. Two of them have pushed theirs aside for their 360 again and one has sold his weee.

If the missus lets you (most likely buying it for her :o) :p

Exactly what's going to be happening in our place before long.

The fact she would be able to access a back catalogue of Sonic and Mario games as well as the new Paper Mario would practically spell the end of my console days.

I thought the Wii was about right, then I had the chance to play one for a while and I'm amazed at how it has sold so many. It's by far the most annoying console I've ever played on.

Yeah im not looking at the multi-platform games, theres been not 1 significant game on the ps3 yet that would make me want one. :/

I think its funny how the console sales have went, people weren't giving the wii a second thought and its sales skyrocketed. Nintendo have probably already made about 2-3x the cost of developing the wii back if not more.

The console that was supposed to make the second coming of jesus looks like a Daily Mirror celeb story (ps3) isn't really doing all that well considering the "zomg bluray zomg cell" hype. And based on the 100 million+ the ps2 supposodly sold (more like shipped) despite sony putting a brave face on things i don't think theyre happy with the sales thus far.

And the xbox despite some people writing MS off after the original as not serious contenders is doing really well for itself despite the amount of dodgy consoles out there.

If anything its been an interesting few years this gen of consoles. At one point i owned all three and of the three the 360 and wii got the most playtime with the ps3 being relegated to playing the odd bluray disc.

Still plenty of time for the tide to change though.

Yes. I made a massive post in 2005 before any of the consoles were released.
I stated that the Wii would outsell everything, that Xbox360 wouldn't be far behind and that the PS3 wouldn't sell well.

Pretty accurate :p.

FF13 will probably suck like 12 did

Tbh i really did think ps3 would sell the most carrying on the trend from its predecessors who were the champions of that respective generation of consoles. But i guess like nintendo did awhile back with the n64, they got too confident and too cocky and made a grave mistake.

However there's no doubting that ps3 will pick up little by little as time goes by and the price of the system drops. But initial bad sales means they have a financial hole somewhere in sony that i think will never be completely filled.

There's also the fact that more and more 3rd party devs are looking to develop for the wii rather than the ps3 and its complex engine (which sony are making easier i heard) because of it's already vast user base and development costs.

Having been a nintendo fan(boy) since consoles were born, i always wanted nintendo to do well, and i thought they had balls taking this new direction of gaming and innovating the gaming scene by developing actual user interface. They were practically putting all their eggs in one basket, and if the wii failed, they would have had to take the same path as sega, so i think that itself gets a salute from me.

I was hoping for the wii to do well, but i'm actually quite surprised that it has done THIS well.

My predictions were pretty much spot on. I was slightly surprised at the number of Europeans who bought PS3's though - talk about battered wives...

At least the N64 launched with one of the best games ever made - and then followed that up with loads of others (4 of my top 10 of all time are N64 games). The PS3 has still a lot to prove, the N64 only lacked in sales. And then nobody bought the DC - philistines!

I think he meant, because the N64 was so popular they expected it to carry onto the GameCube.

I've been surprised that the PS3 has done as well as it has. The other two have done about as well as I'd expected.

As for how well the Wii sells... I don't think Nintendo have anything to worry about. Even if the Wii stops selling now they have an enormous userbase to sell games to, and they've been making a profit since day one so they're already home and dry in that respect.
