Have decided to get a 560Ti but which one?

Not sure what to go for - Asus, MSI or Gigabyte? How do you decide? The specs seem pretty similar to me & its difficult to know how much difference the tweaks make. Any buying advice or recommendations?

Avoid Asus because their manufacturers warranty is non-existent outside North America.

The the quality of components used in the PCB's will vary but it's not worth buying the most expensive card just because it may overclock slightly more.

ive had asus cards before and never had any issues, however ive never had to return them so cant comment on warranty

MSI GTX560Ti Twin Frozr II 2GB. Should be able to find it on pre-order for under £200 if you look around.

Read up on the card before hand, I didn't and apparently there are a lot of duff 560 ti's out there, there is a 22 page thread on the nvidia forums about it here (http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=193106).
And with my luck I managed to get one of the duff ones, still waiting to get my RMA number from here to send it back, been 3 days so far.

Jeez, not's not very reassuring! Was considering the MSI with 2Gb although not released to next week. Waiting to see if OCUK get it and if the price is right.

Would a 6950 maybe be a better bet? Are there known issues with them by any chance?

If you actually read that thread...the topic IS NOT 22 page of problems with the card, but more about people listing their PC specs and sharing what works, what doesn't, what issues there are, and what solutions for the GTX560Ti...all they are doing is sharing their experience, so that people might benefit from one another getting the solution/fix for the minor problems (i.e. issues in specific games).

Do see people with topic about 6950 cards with problem every now and then...but to be honest, there will always be small number of people run into problem with the hardware they purchase, no matter what is it. Just get which you prefer...6950 2GB or GTX560TI 2GB, and fingercross that you card won't be a problematic one.

I didn't say it was 22 pages of problems, I merely pointed out that this particular card had a large thread where a number of people were having problems, more so than other similar cards. And wanted OP to have a look before buying, as it would have made me think twice about what card I bought, even if it was just to buy a stock speed card rather than an OC version.

i have a 1g msi twin frozr 560ti which runs @ 1.062v 1012/2024/2336 and max temp of 68c it has neva gave me a problem yet

It's on the Nvidia forum and a dedicated GTX560Ti topic...so what you did expect? If AMD forums had a graphic card forum (which they don't) and someone created a thread focusing on discussion on the problems with 6950, pretty sure there could also be 22 pages, if not more on that topic. In fact, problems discussion topic on ANY specific model graphic card can easily reach that number of pages, if it is on the official forum.

Unless there are some known major design flaw like the GTX590 and are confirmed by multiple reviewers, the chance of getting cards of any brand/model with or without problems are all down to luck. I know you brought that thread to OP's attention out of good will, but what you have actually done is defaming a perfectly good card. Just like "poor driver for ATI/AMD cards" have been mentioned again and again, but should people taking that at face value and be put off getting ATI/AMD cards just because of that? If people were worried about every single piece of hardware that which the problems have been discussed in forums, they are not going to be able to buy any hardware at all.

Just to get back on track. Given my system spec, should I opt for a 2GB model or is 1GB enough? There's a new MSI 2Gb model due to be released this week but there is a difference of about £25 with the 1Gb model. I know that's not a lot but just want to ensure I get the right card & get the most out of it with the kit that I have.

When I needed an extra cable for a Gigabyte motherboard it was from a Milton Keynes address. May be their graphic card returns are handled at the same place.

2. You therefore don't want a massive overclock

If you're going to be playing at 1920x1080 I'd save your money and stick with the 1GB. Great cards at that price.

I'm looking at the Twin Frozr II which seems to have its own unique cooling design. From what I have read, its well regarded by critics & users alike.

Playing at 1680x1050. Probably change monitor in a couple of years as its fine for now - good clear screen & nicely produced colours (Samsung 226BW).

That extra £25 would nearly get me BF3.

In your position I'd get the 1GB MSI Frozr II/OC. ~£180

I doubt you'll gain anything from the 2GB version.

Asus/EVGA/Gigabyte look about the best makes to me in the range.

im seriously looking into ordering monday morning an asus ENGTX560 TI DCII TOP/2DI I know its not the fastest card but looks well built and got good reviews.

I did consider the msi range but a few people had to downclock a bit which defeats the object or they just had bad luck with the card.
for me it was a toss up between evga/asus/gigabyte and decided 90% on the asus card for now, we will see in the morning
