Hello people,

i brought a new pc thinking my games would run nice, but for some reason, they run slow, and its not good quality with jagged lines etc, im very disappointed and dont know if ive done my settings wrong in the catlalist control center. can some give me good tips on the settings please? ive tried f.e.a.r as a test for my game, my specs are below

AMD 64 X2 3800
2gb ram
200gig hdd
X1300 512mb gfx card
Plus ive got a 19" widescreen packard bell screen ( can someone reccomend good resolution for this screen)

Is my gfx card jus rubbish or have i done something wrong with the settings?

Thnx :)

your graphics card is definetly letting you down there stick a x1800xt in there and you will see a hell of a difference everything else is ok

That doesnt make sence...

Anyway,
X1300 is a dredfull card to try & run any game on. Take it to whoever sold it to you & shove it somewhere.

You should get any of these for great performance:

X1800 XT
X1900 XT
7950 GS
7900 GT
7900 GTO
7900 GTX

7900 GS if you're pushed for money.

As said above the main problem for gaming on that system is the low end graphics card.

If you were to get something like ..
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT 256MB GDDR3 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-044-CO)
Available This Week Only for just £109.99 +VAT.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/X1800_Series.html

This is the best value graphics card arround & would be a very good match to the rest of the rig.

----

But if you have a budget in mind let us know & we can recommend you other cards if your budget is higher or lower.

im an ATi user but lets not forget also the 7600GT, very good little card, will play BF2 at 1280x1024 with 4x Anti aliasing (much to my amazement...)

Aye, you'd deffo be FAR better off with a a x1800xt, x1900xt or 7600GT (the x1900xt being the strongest, the 7600GT being the weakest). With those cards you'd be able to play at 1280x1024 with all/most settings on high, and some filtering, although I'd recommend you control video settings via the game itself, as they can be tempermental if controlled from external sources.

ok, ill have to get the card sometime next week, in my old pc. i got the x700 256mb card, u thinki **** stick that in for time being?
That would be a bit better.
But that rig would be pretty good if you added a better videocard.

was looking at the Connect3D ATI Radeon X1950 XT-X SILENT Heatpipe 512MB GDDR4 AVIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-050-CO)

it says though Crossfire compatible - Master Edition ATI/HIS X1950 card required!!

whats that???

Wow, thats a top of the line card. But i should point out its not a lot quicker than an X1900XTX. You may want to consider getting the HIS ICEQ X1900XTX - cheaper, same quiet cooler & offers close enough performance to the X1950XTX; the top ATI card

What that means is that the card will run perfectly well on its own, but it can run in a dual card configuration if you get an X1950XTX Mastercard (similar to Nvidia SLI). You also need a crossfire motherboard.
