You just need to find the game that really captures your interest. I go through spells of not having a particular game to play but then suddenly one will come along and have me hooked for ages. Even games I dont normally play, Im a huge FPS fan and hardly ever play racing games, but I gave Shift 2 Unleashed a go recently and have been glued to it since, I think Ive been playing it nearly every evening so far!
Left 4 Dead 2 has consumed so many hours its unreal. Ive got a massive steam library of games but always seem to play the same ones, but then its like your wardrobe - you wear 10% of your clothes, 90% of the time.
I found its having too much choice that I dont know what game to play or sticking to it. I find I have to make myself play a game, and one game only until I actually take an interest in it and see it through, ultimately enjoying it. If after a short time, the game just isnt meeting my expectations then I leave it and start something else.
The number of games I come back to time and time again can be counted on one hand. These games are a personal choice and are like your own creme da la creme and never get boring.
