Have I lost it?

You just need to find the game that really captures your interest. I go through spells of not having a particular game to play but then suddenly one will come along and have me hooked for ages. Even games I dont normally play, Im a huge FPS fan and hardly ever play racing games, but I gave Shift 2 Unleashed a go recently and have been glued to it since, I think Ive been playing it nearly every evening so far!

Left 4 Dead 2 has consumed so many hours its unreal. Ive got a massive steam library of games but always seem to play the same ones, but then its like your wardrobe - you wear 10% of your clothes, 90% of the time.

I found its having too much choice that I dont know what game to play or sticking to it. I find I have to make myself play a game, and one game only until I actually take an interest in it and see it through, ultimately enjoying it. If after a short time, the game just isnt meeting my expectations then I leave it and start something else.

The number of games I come back to time and time again can be counted on one hand. These games are a personal choice and are like your own creme da la creme and never get boring.

Nothings hit me like Unreal Tournament 99 did, clans and endless hours playing, and I was pretty good too.

Had a great community back in the day!

And I do think this is the problem there isn't the community in games anymore there used to be. Well I don't think so.

Good point. WoW's community aspect has totally died IMO. Xrealming, LFR, Random BGs. Killed it.

Sure, it's made things easier, and probably made more people 'experience content', but the spirit of being in a team has completely dissipated. I'd much rather sit in trade and make a 25man raid group with people I am familiar from with my server (although it might take longer) and have a laugh than just open up a menu, queue, and then brainlessly coast through and instance while the 24 other mongos hack away.

Too much streamlining has killed that game for me.

Still play unreal now sometimes, it snared me originally when I did a pc build back in '99 always held a fondness for it ever since. Zoras key coop server is worth a look.

I hadn't played anything for a long while, then I found Dota 2 and have put 956 hours in :/

It's literally a game I can see myself playing for the foreseeable future, only game I ever played this much was CS when I was at school.

PLAY WITH FRIENDS.

I am kind of in the same boat but i can't stress enough how important it is to play with friends or make friends.

I started 1.5 in a internet cafe as a 14 year old, now am 23. the past 9/10 years Ive pretty much been a full time gamer ( well Ive been employed since 18 so technically not full time )

As you get older I think its important to find that balance between 'IRL' and gaming, I still get mega nostalgia since many of my friends have stopped playing.

but any game is fun with friends, hence why WoW probably reached 11 million active players because the social aspect of the game is awsome. CS had a lot of success because everyone and his dog had hl1 plus it was a lot of gamers 'first FPS' same with WoW being everyones 1st MMO.

Ive gone far offtopic

TS/Vent, best software evarz.

Strangely enough I've gone through the exact same scenario with the same games. Nothing captures me like that anymore and I crave the feeling so much! The only game that has come close is dayZ. I miss the community so much of cs 1.3 and random grouping in wow leading to guilds. Although wow caused many relationship tensions but now I'm single I wish I hadnt sold my account!

Yeah ive ran out of friends to play games with... either got kids and sold out because there misses told them to or just lost interest. I have one friend at the moment that I game with and he has a crappy internet connection and drops out often.

Im abit of a shy person so find it hard to make friends ingames. The last time I was really social and played with loads of people was when I was a kinship leader on lotro but it was very stressful!

I'll NEVER sell my account! Too many memories there. I wish there was a game I knew of that would take me back to these gaming times, so epic.

Have to agree also with play with good people. All my online buddies now play LoL, and I just can't get along with these games.

I feel similar to this. but partly because I don't have 4+ hours after work just to burn on gaming anymore... House, Missus, dog and other hobbies all require attention too so generally only get a few hours every other night at the most.

Played Starcraft 2 and HotS quite heavily, at a high level too, that entertained me a lot until a lot of my friends moved away from that and to LoL....

...Trying LoL at the moment, quite enjoying it but have a huge lack of friends there. Most people on these forums are already at the level cap so unable to play with them.

Thought the missus is a huge Final Fantasy fan so wants to try that new MMO, maybe that will be decent? Lets face it, can't be as bad as 1.0 :D

I have been PC gaming from around Quake 2 time. OMG what a game that was, purchased all the addon packs for it as well. FPS are the games that get my attention. I know what you mean by not being grabbed by the modern games. The games that have recently had me hooked and completed were Dishonored and Rage. I like games I can play with friends against the computer like Payday 2 but what really gets my goat that its a max of 4 players grrrr. Arma 3 seems really good but its a huge learning curve. I also enjoy flying aircraft and space ships. The best/fun MP flight game for me was Janes WW2 fighters. I would love to see a remake of X-wing Vs Tie Fighter. MMO's are good fun but I will not pay a monthly sub. GW2 is fun but you can loose hours in it.

Kinda feel the same, stopped playing WoW around Cata release and only game I have actually stuck with for more than a month or 2 is LoL, kept me going for 2 and a half years now only because of people I play with, but I want a game that will suck me in and make me feel the same as WoW did back in the day.

Any of you suffering gaming malaise also happen to have a steam list bloated with cheap sale games by any chance?
