Have i made a mistake ?

Old enough, sadly some people on here use personal info for ill will so you can understand I am reluctant to divulge further info for those people to use :) They know who they are, nothing to do with you.

Not that late as it had time to get a sequel in ;).
It's not just for it's style of graphics, or gameplay, but the direction of God of War is at another level too. In fact, I would say absolutely every single element is better on God of War which is why GoW is one of my very favourite games ever.

On the topic of anyone thinking I'm saying this for a 'shock factor' or any other reason, someone like Inoshishi will tell you otherwise as I was talking to him about it over a month ago on MSN and I said the same thing then.

Agree 100% mate, GoW is very very polished, and as I said 'A Special Gem' of a game.

And thanks to yourself and a few others off here I had the pleasure of experiencing it :)

Fair enough, cheers for the explanation. I am unsure what someone could do with just knowing your age, but I respect a mans right to privacy. I myself only reveal information I am comfortable with others knowing, as well.

He must have been coz the game looks and plays amazingly.

i agree Nokkon must be playing it on a SDTV or smt because HS looks utterly gorgeous on my HDTV :) And the cutscene graphical quality imho are unsurpassed by anything on any console. Not just "nice" :p

edit
I was playing the game via a Sony bravia and I'm sure it was displaying at 1080p,

which series? plasma? RPTV?

Ninja Gaiden is better for this generation. God of War for last generation. :p

Dear sweet mother of....!

Ive played Ninja Gaiden dude its good for maybe 1 - 3 enemies type combat but HS for me is the Ultimate Combat game if you want to fight 4 - 500+ enemies all at near enuff the same time. ( i **** you not)

And the combat is all seamless, flowing ballet dancing sexiness! As an example; i played Conan recently and the combat aint bad but it felt stilted and clumsy compared to HS's combat.

God of War i've never played....i might rent then if its really that good (God of War 2 better or God of War?)

God of war is THE best action game of it's kind, Better than Ninja Gaiden, HS and any other game similar. That is why God of war 3 is one of my most anticipated games, because if you gave God Of war the body count overhaul Heavenly sword has, You'd get the best game yet again of all time.

Go get it..now. It may be 7pm, You may be already winding down for bed. But put down that cup of coffee, get out of that door. and go looking for God of War. And Make sure it's the 1st one, 2nd one is good also, But start at the beginning :p

VF5/DOA4(both from the same mold in my opinion) are a button bashers dream with their limited buttons
You question my time in beat-em ups but then class VF5 as a 'button basher', it's completely the opposite. No button basher in VF5 would EVER beat someone who knows the move sets and plays properly. VF5 IS a fighting purists style of game.

And yes, I do like beat em ups and do play a lot of them. I have Tekken on the PS3. I had VF5 on PS3. I had DOA4 on Xbox360. I had Rumble Roses on Xbox360. I have Street Fighter on Xbox360.
I think that's all the fighting games on both consoles, but I'm not sure.

90% of people DO NOT CARE about those points you have bought up. End of. If you think your view on this is reflective of other general gamers, I think you will conede, after some thought, they are not. As you have studied games deisgn/graphics it is not surprising though, as you will look for stuff others don't give a flying hoot about.
My comments were in regards to people telling me Heavenly Sword is a good looking game, then I explained why I didn't think it was.
I said in my post that if people knew what to look for as such that they would see it's not a great looking game. I judge every game by its merits in many departments, graphically just being one. I use the same judgement on any game, any format too.

Warhawk is not a competitor to Battlefield. It is a 20 pound downlaodable game that is ONLINE ONLY. I have never seen you online in this game and would question how many online hours you have racked up to validate your statements. Whilst I agree that it works better without sixaxis, I challenge anyone to play with the sticks and beat me playing with the sixaxis. Again, if you had played this game extensively then I would respect your stance on it more, but I suspect you haven't.
Battlefield 2 is most definitely a competitor. Very much so in fact.

It very much is. I have put several hours into it, though no more than I needed to. I have played enough however to judge it and I do own it also.

One more:

This implies you have played Uncharted yourself to compare to your 360 version of COD4. Do you own/have played this Uncharted game in person? (simple question, just I thought you didn't own the game yet, yet have made a point that impolies you have played it, to some degree.).
I have not played it as I am getting it for Christmas, however, I am judging graphically, which can be seen by rolling footage in retail stores or in HD downloadable video.

However you make it sound like I am being negative towards Uncharted, which isn't the case.

lol.... NO im playing FFXII atm (slow start but awesome now) and Uncharted arrives tomorrow :D Dont have time - will have to wait till after xmas.

besides i'm due to be getting

either: Assassins Creed, Dirt, Call of Duty 4 or Ratchet & Clank on rental very very soon (fingers crossed)

Read what I said above. I said the cut scenes were very nice, I even said they were 10/10 though her hair annoyed me. However, graphically in game they are not nice.
I really wish I could meet more people at this Welsh LAN so I could actually point stuff out that people seem to conveniently ignore. It is very annoying.

Ninja Gaiden is an old game and is still more challenging, and varied than Heavenly Sword. Yes you can fight a lot of enemies, however it's the same combat with 3 different styles of fighting. All your enemies move and animate in the same way (with that stupid Street Fighter standing bounce animation), move at the same time etc.. it's hardly a programming masterclass in variation. Also, the enemies character models (bar bosses) are very poor and unoriginal.

You say it's flowing combat, but it's not. It's fast, but quite clumsy at times. It's attempted to copy off God of War with the weapon too, except it hasn't done it as well. God of War has better animation and is 2 years older.

I really recommend you play it, it's one of the strongest games of the last decade, it's that good. Start with God of War (1), then play God of War 2. You won't regret it.

Ninja Gaiden and HS for me are different combat type games so not much point comparing em. E.g. i would put Ninja Gaiden in the same combat-type as Devil May Cry series.

You say it's flowing combat, but it's not. It's fast, but quite clumsy at times.

Not when i play :D I find the motion and main character movements and attacking all very fluid and natural, pulling off spectacular moves with ease.

But then i havent played God of War which is what you're comparing it to. Well ive stuck it on my "after xmas list" If its half as good as you say then thanks i guess heh :D

My mistake I misread your post!! Thats why I was confused!! (I read your HS as Uncharted in one place!) BTW you cannot judge a game on HD video as that is compressed, but anyway. Rolling demo is fair enough though. (I assume you own or have played Heavenly Sword then I guess, based on your comments?).

Are you a big beat em up fan prior to this generation? VF5 is not a purists game imo. The button bashers comment was just me being flippant tbh. fancy a game of Tekken Online then :D. The 360 beat em ups are all disappointing imo. I have/had/played (bar rumble roses) all of them, those that can't be glitched, cheated at, have poor netcode. (Main reason I sold my beloved fighting stick , as I have no hope of the situation getting better apart from multiplatform games like SF4 but they are up in the air atm.) I am surprised being a big beat em up fan you play them on the 360 as it has the worst d-pad I have used in the last 10 years of gaming, (something a beat-em up fan would acknoledge/concede).

I guess my biggest gripe would be that you say Tekken has not eveolved when both DOA and VF use a simplistic/dated 3 button sytem. I have always been a fan of 6 button games and 4 button games. (sf and tekken). But I guess tastes differ. The PS3 offers me a much vaster platfom of superior beat-em ups to tuck in to(through BC) AND a better controller (although moot point for me as I don't like to play without an arcade stick, having wasted many pounds and years in arcades in my younger years). Also I normally scorn people who have played all their life with joypads anyway, as they have very little experince of playing in arcades as the game was meant to be played, so ignore me :p

Anyway mr beat em up fan, when can I play u at Tekken online then, if it hasn't changed since 1994 you must be very good at it :D ?

You have listed similarities between BF and Warhawk but they are not competotors in my opinion still. I could do your "check" sytem with many games that are not competitors. I based my comments on you not playing it much based on the fact your rank and playing hours on the console show as very low, but maybe you have not played ranked, which would explain it.

On a totally flippant note, what do you expect the average gamer (ie someone not from these forums who plays games too much and goes to LANS) to say when you show them a 360 game and a ps3 game then zoom in on the graphics and say "you see the bad artistic design here and misuse of low res textures?", "not to mention the uninspiring level design and bad colour palette". :D

I don't own Heavenly Sword, but I do have McDaniels version here at my house, he was kind enough to lend me it at the LAN.

I'm a fan of good games in any genre, and have always bought loads of games, so I guess you could say I am a Beat 'Em Up fan, yes.
I agree the 360 d-pad is one of the worst ever, I won't say worst as I had a PC gamepad once and that was utterly horrific (and still Microsoft :p). I was happy using the stick in Dead Or Alive 4, but only because it was better than the pad and I couldn't warrant a purchase of the Hori stick on the basis of one good game.

It has evolved, but not by much. It got a lot slicker in the 3rd iteration when compared to the 'clunkier' first 2 titles, but the fighting dynamics of the series are still very basic. This was immediately noticeable after purchasing Tekken 5 from the PSN when I got my PS3.
Whilst Virtua Fighter may only offer 3 buttons it's by no means simplistic, in fact, there are less buttons to 'mash', and everything is in the timing of the moves. The major fighting tournaments in Asia have usually been between Soul Edge and Virtua Fighter, which were two awesome arcade games in their times and have ported well to consoles. With Tekken however I always felt something was left behind in the Arcades, similar to how I found Killer Instinct. Average on consoles but awesome in the arcades.

I don't have the online update () which should have been free to those who purchased it in the first place.

I wouldn't need the Xbox360 as comparison. I am talking about individual games here, not just ports.
I could explain game dynamics, engine or system limitations and other technical stuff (people here have a tendency to think I either talk 'rubbish' or make stuff up, when in fact they won't accept the truth a lot of the time) as well as explain why 'x' was used here, or more to the point, complain why 'z' was used when it was unnecessary.
I would and could happily explain why I don't think a game looks good, I'm not blinkered, I am honest and I do know what I'm talking about, so I would most likely teach people a few things they didn't know.

All I'm going to say is that some people on these forums are happy being blissfully unaware at times.

Eh? another case of you not reading again?

I asked him what GT5 brings new, he said realism (which from the demo is lies), which has been done already many times, he then suggested PGR series as a reason to suggest realism has not been done, but that series has never been realistic or attempted to be.

Please try to read, tiring having to spell it out for you.

Mate you should have gone to specsavers! I didnt mean that at all! I meant im looking forward to the realism of Gran Tursimo! It wasnt a comparison of PGR at all !!

Well so you are saying realism is something new to the genre? either way fail :/ And it was you that brought up the PGR series and stated the handling was pap so it seemed like you were comparing but off course not :D

????? Mate youre clearly not the sharpest knife in the draw. Read my posts again carefully, C A R E F U L L Y, then maybe youll understand what i was saying as wannabedamned managed it. :)
