I have, the most scariest moment of my life, I felt my heart kick in @ work on Boxing Day 2005. Age 22, My body went mad, my brain said "help"

I got shipped off to the Hospital sirens and lights and all. It was a good and bad experience, I got treated well by the ambulance grew, they do save lives, I had an ambulance AND a fast response paramedic at my work place within 10 mins.

The Doctors high on the triple pay of Boxing day left (I lost 5 days pay + 2 x3 wage) me for over 4 hours without any update, only when I personally got up and demanded a insite into my care did they do somthing, blood results came back inconclusive.

It was a crazy experience for me, to be told that you only get these after you are 60 years old hurt me.

My lifestyle hit me hard, I hardly go out anymore (once a month), I eat average and I excercise to a good degree.

I am sharing this for no reason but to share my experience and parp life.

How do you mean "kick in"?

I had an ECG when I was about 9. I was running home from school and a car pulled out of a drive and I had to stop sharpish - I had chest pains afterwards. The doc thought my heartbeat sounded a bit irregular so he sent me for an ECG. It came back normal. I must have just jarred a muscle in my chest.

Well, the left side of my body went crazy, i was talking to somone at work, it was like my body went offline for a few seconds. I felt my left leg go num, I slowy made my way for a drink of water, I felt no better, I only had 2 hours of an 8 hour shift left, My body was telling me somthing, I dont know what it was, it was strange.
a
I had 4 blood test and 2 ECG and I had to chew on a aspirin.

I wish it was a pulled muscle but the docs never said that, they never said anything.

Hmmm, weird - sounds almost like a mild stroke

Have you had any problems since? It could have been a total one-off thing.
Anyway, hope you're OK and get it sorted out....whatever it is!

Whats an ECG?

It monitors the heart and its votage, in different places, it can dectect a slight or major change in the heart pattern.

The heart graph you see on flatliners or casualty is an ECG.

I had a print out in the ambulance and they decided to take me to the hospital as a "chest complaint" need to go.

The thing is I have never had a test since the 26th of Dec, call me crazy but they seem to think its normal. My Doctor put it down to the anxiety of my life and my niece but i was a month past that.

I haver never felt a sensation like it and I hope I will, it was like a warm feeling that had me high for a few seconds, it never felt like pain, which most heart attacks suffer from a pain.

I need to get back to the doctor but my heart ( :(
) tells me do they really care.

The macheines that have the green line that goes up and down on a monitor when your heart beats? They also make a beeping noise :)

I'm no doctor so take anything that I say with a pinch of salt. However, I am a good friend of anxiety and it does work in some weird and wonderful ways. You mention something about your niece (none of my business) which I assume was a stressful situation. It's not unusual for someone to experience anxiety from an event that happened some six months previous.

Again, this can be linked to anxiety. Anything from weird sensations of being high, dizzy, warm, cold, 'floaty', feeling distant or pins and needles or numbness can all be the physical manifestations of an anxiety attack.

If you're not happy though, go back to your GP and discuss it with him/her. That's what they're there for. It's your health and you have every right to demand assurance.

lol, I was implying I was a gonna and the Whattttttttt was a flatliner,

Ive had quite a few ECG's in the last month or two. I have high blood pressure at an unusually early age it seems. Ive also had an echo cardiogram (sp), which is an ultrasoudn of the heart. That came back fine though. MY ECG's wheeren't the ones that beeped though.

Had many ECG's and certainly wouldn't call them scary ( though the reasons you had to have it would be scary ) , very quick and simple test , sure you don't mean an EKG now that is scary , watching an image of your heart and valves in action

Oh wow, that would be so cool to have as a screensaver

I've had an ECG - I tend to suffer from an ectopic heartbeat, brought about by stress or overstimulation of the vegas nerve, which can cause some fairly unpleasant symptoms.

I often have the booming heartbeat noise in bed too - nothing to worry about.

I've had dozens as I used to be the 'subject' in the medic practicals, I have (or had) a nice clear QRS complex and a cute little T wave ;)

Actually, the machines that have the green lines on them that go bleep bleep bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep (if you die) are not ECG machines, they are just heart monitors, unfortunately, totally different. An ECG gives you a 'moment in time' analysis of your hearts Electro Cardiographic State (ECG = Electrocardiogram).

The heart monitor produces real time information about the heart, an ECG could not do this as it has to print its results. The 'paddles' stuck to your chest in a heart monitor (if you were in hospital with the machine that goes beep next to you) only monitor your heart (and I think SATS). ECGs require 6/12 leads and would be connected to your wrists and ankles as well as across your chest cavity and then around your heart almost to the point of your armpit. An ECG does not measure anything other than the hearts 'ELECTRO' output...a heart monitor (which you are all discussing as the 'green beebpy machine') just measures heart beat and rate.

For what its worth! ;)

I had one about 8 years ago. I was working at a restaurant as Head Chef, had been doing about 70+ hours a week for months. I was ok doing it, but my body was not, I was driving to work or at work and I would just black out for a few seconds. couldnt see anything even though my eyes were open. When this happened whilst driving, it worried me, so i popped straight into my local Doctor's and he sent me straight up to the hopspital for a ECG. Just ended up having a couple of weeks of and told not to do so many hours. if your in the catering trade. You'll know about the hours. But luckily these days life is easier. Not as many hours.
