Have you ever had a ECG.

I've had two ECG's over the last two years. The first one was on the run-up to my kidney transplant last year. It is a normal procedure to make sure your heart is up to major surgery. A few months after the echo cardiograph and ECG my transplant surgeon was running through the results of all the tests I have had done, when he came to my heart tests he just said 'your heart is regurgitating blood, your valves are not closing properly, surgery will need to be done when it gets too bad’ and then he quickly moved on. I didn’t know to say but ‘oh erm ok’….

Anyway moving on to two years later… just two weeks ago I started to get palpitations - which I’ve had on occasion previously but now they were constant. They started the weekend before last but I didn’t mention them to anyone, just hoped they’d go away. On the following Thursday I had my weekly visit with my works medical team, I mentioned how I was feeling (tired, slightly breathless, nauseous, dodgy heartbeat) Nurse put a bp monitor on me and it went beep beep beep ….. beep beep …… beep beep etc. I had an irregular heart beat as well as missing beats, she sent me to the docs. Doc put an ECG machine on me, it was only on for 15 seconds and didn’t pickup the missing beats just picked up an extra beat lol…

Anyway we are awaiting the initial hospital report on my valve problem before proceeding further, I am due to ring my Doc sometime today to see if the reports in yet… In the meantime I’ve told my wife that if I start going blue and I’m urgently pointing to my chest she has my permission to start thumping me hard, she’ll enjoy that :D

I had one a few years back. I'd fallen off a horse and broken my collar bone and a few ribs. The dappy doctor didnt read my notes and just started slapping little electrodes all over my chest. I nearly passed out, ex nearly threw him across the room. Happy days.
