REAL WORLD PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

Taken from a sharkey xtreme review Jan 2007

WinRAR is another benchmark test that helps show off the real-world improvements when using a quad core processor. The Core 2 models hold a decided advantage here and the Core 2 quad core processors are the overall leaders. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 certainly holds it own, and even though it obviously can't match the performance of its 2.66 GHz counterpart, the Q6600 is still noticeably faster than the 2.93 GHz Core 2 Extreme X6800.

Upgraded my memory recently to Crucial Ballistics PC8000 running at 1000Mhz and got my score upto 1556 with a clean install.

OPteron 165 is dual core after all ;) the Winrar benchmark is very memory bandwidth and latency dependant slack timming and low memory bandwidth mean low score AFAIK

Mine just keps on going for some reason.

Resulting KB/s should stop and be Bolded/highlighted, make sure nothing cpu intensive is running while the benchmark is running, I'm sure you knew that anyway :)

Your result doesn't seem to add up at all if your CPU is @ 3.2ghz
The powers of the Internet. :D

Resulting and Current KB are never the same with a screenie of that bench.
