Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

I would :). Unless you're gonna run massive overclocks because I don't believe they have proper VRM cooling. I'd imagine upto 1150/1200 is fine. ;)

I`m really tempted by HIS but its only 1 fan and probably loud...
I game on 1920x1080 so that card is a bit of overkill but as I said its a futureproof.

The HIS IceQ is actually one of the quieter 7950s. I'm sure after reading your posts where you've posted you must have picked up on the multiple threads/posts regarding this.

The thing is that my aim in my build was quietness and Iv reached that.
If I dont choose a quiet card its not going to make a bigger sense.
The HIS looks good on reviews but is it really as quiet as gigabyte or MSI?

Quieter than the MSI. Probably around the same a the GB.

Honestly the number of fans doesn't really mean anything. It's the overal design which counts.

Right then.

Got my HIS IceQ installed, ran a couple of Heaven runs and some BF3.

Has overclocked straight to 1100c 1450m with no problems whatsoever, not pushing it further yet as I don't have much time left.

I always set a 60% fixed fan (did with my 6970 REF and my MSI TFIII 7950)

at 60% fan I ran GPUz sensor log at 1100c 1450m after a good 30 minutes of BF3 in a warm room tbh on a 64 man server, the highest temp was 52c !!

This is with 1250 VDDC according to HIS iTurbo!

Very impressed so far - many thanks to Rusty for initially recommending and also Bailey for +1ing it and arranging the swap!

I'm a very happy bunny!

DAMN it's a big card though !!

Is that this card?

Because that sounds like what I'm after.

If OCUK would knock down the price of the Gigabyte WF to match competitors I'd swap the MSI I have for that. Reviews in this thread re the HIS seem excellent but I cant get passed how hideous its cooler is

What looking? It's not the nicest looking thing but I don't really spend much time looking through my case window :D.

I`m gone try HIS, you seem to be very happy with your xfire setup ;]
What % fan do they get noticable?

Only a single card now as I've dropped back to single screens. It's just noticeable over case fans at 1150 MHz with a generous over voltage. Haven't checked it's % exactly.

What kind of temps do you get?

57-61 now I've changed my front intake fan. :) That's the max temperature after a Heaven loop.

Just got 1949 on Heaven 3.0 at 1125c 1475m which I'm happy with :D

Gonna try another loop at a higher clock but record temps this time too (at 60% fan constant btw)

Nice one.

I got ~2150 ish at 1200/1700 on my old MSI card so that looks about right :).

Glad you're happy with it.

My HIS IceQ gets a bit cranky above 1550 MHz on the memory. See if yours is the same.

Indeed it is. It looks to the naked eye even much bigger than the MSI TFIII. Feels like good quality to me as well.

No worries at all :)
