Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

Do you use 3 screens (Eyefinity)?

3x 2560x1440 monitors.

I did, I put the experience down to poor ATi and moved back to nVidia.

I didn't realise at the time that there would be so many failures of this brand.

My 470 GTXs would have lasted me until the next generation of cards.

These HIS cards are flying, I got better cards for less so it's a win for me despite initial disappointment.

This HD 7950 is better than a GTX 680 malarky is frankly silly.

Overclocks are not guaranteed with any make or brand of card.
It's best to buy a card based on 'out of the box' performance and not 'I hope I can clock the pants off it'

I don't know about that.....

Apart from the TFIII well known problems. If you get a WF3x or the HIS IceQ or others, they do overclock extremely well.

The reason why people are saying x,y and z about the 7950 Vs the 670/680 is merely due to the 12.11 drivers....

With the price difference, you would be a bit mad to get a 680 currently unless you NEEDED nvidia

Not really, when people say this they are talking about stock 7950s.

All 7950s overclock a "decent" amount relative to their stock clock speeds (800Mhz) but these newer revisions with upped clocks (mine is 950Mhz out of the box) changes and that added to the new drivers, it really is true.

You just need to look at some reviews of this HIS 7950 IceQ X2, it shows that they give better than GTX680 performance, and they're still cheaper than 670s.

I am not denying the fact.

The problem is this: If you combine the 'My new card is a poor overclocker' threads with 'I think my new card has been already opened' threads.

You see that it leaves retailers in a very awkward situation.

It is slightly making a mockery of the DSR laws.

Keep sendin'em back 'til I get a good 'un!

Fixed that for you ;)

WOW, I didnt think there will be so many members interacting in my thread!
I will tell you what the temps are with front fans on.
My cards fans reached max of 57% fan speed. usually its like 45-51% depends on game and gameplay.

I sent mine back to them today. I put a new build together Wednesday/Thursday and was having issue's trying to get the system to boot at all. By a process of elimination, ie I took the 7950 out and run it off the onboard graphics, the system is fine. It just cost me about £9.75 to send it back via RM special delivery, to be with overclockers by 1pm Monday.

Just as an afterthought, when I spoke to someone at OC Friday he told me they had quite a few of the MSI returned and ask me if I wanted a refund or an exchange. I opted for an exchange, but am now doubting myself tbh. I keep looking at various other cards. If I phone OC on Monday would they exchange the card for a different one if I made up any extra cost involved. or would I get refunded to my card then have to buy once I got the refund?

Oh yeah, I think I will. They seem a really good price in comparison to Nvidia (not wanting to get involved in an Nvidia - AMD fight).

It was always for me gonna be between the MSI 7950 or the Asus 7950 DCU II Top. I went for the MSI as it was on offer when I bought it so worked out quite a bit cheaper (about £30 I think).

So, was thinking about calling OC on Monday and asking them if I could pay the difference and exchange it for the Asus. I just can't afford to pay out £270 if they say they have to refund, so would have to wait for the refund to go onto my card before I purchased a new one.

It's not silly. At triple screen it's completely clear. At 1080p the 7950 is about 5% slower which considering its price is quite impressive.

Payment to your card should be instant.

It's silly to expect you will get a card that will overclock well.

It's not guaranteed.

I have always found that any refund (never had one from oc before) takes 3 days to go back into my account.

Because they try to get away with a BACS transfer. Dunno about OcUK either but if they can take it from your card, it can be put back on their instantly.

I'm pretty much 99% sure I'm sending mine back now. Such a pain in the proverbial....

TBH, MSI should do something for their big e-tailers likc OcUK.

At the moment 65C 48% fan in sanctuary...Borderlands 2 OFC
I still have the satisfactory guarrante intill thursday-friday
I really want gigabyte.
Will they take the card? On my last card I had a max temp of 59C in Furmark!!!
