Have you swapped your MSI 7950?

I was going to get the msi on friday but decded on the gigabyte 7950 and so far im very happy, at first i was worried after reading the other thread when my memory stayed at 1250 at idle ( 2 monitors ) but my temps are great even when pushing the card

I also picked up a MSI 7850 twin frozr IV which looks as though its going to be a good un from playing with it this evening.

I'm glad I switched GPU's It was the best thing I've ever done. Very happy 680 owner:)

You would have very happy had you swapped to say an IceQ/X2 lime myself and rusty have done.

It's very clear that some people are struggling to see beyond the fact that they've had trouble with an AMD GPU instead of seeing it as it is, MSI messing something up.

Incidentally I saw some one complaining yesterday about a Twin Frozr GTX670 having the same issues that these 7950 twin frozrs are having.

So should I send it back than?
The gigabyte looks like a great cooler and gets decent reviews.

If your sending it back because of the temps, then I would say no, those temps are perfect. idle with 30c temps is very good. Now if your sending it back because of gfx glitches then by all means send it back. I hear Gigabyte wf3 is a great card.

So the temps are fine?
My old GPU had a max temp of 59c in furmark. This same case and setup.

Even after people have told you repeatedly that those temps are good, you still feel they are not? Or you are just not happy with the card and want to return it?

He must not be happy because like you said he seems to not like it. Me and others have said many times that those temps are perfect, but you don't seem to think they are? I say do want ever makes you feel best. If that means returning it then return it

IC3, why are you worried about your temperatures, which are actually fine. You keep quoting your old cards temperatures, but higher temperatures may be a resultof the new card doing more than the old one.

I think you just fancy the Gigabyte, but to be honest, you made the choice when you bought the MSI. You can't expect OC to exchange it for no reason other than you have changed your mind. The MSI should be equally as good as the Gigabyte on performance. Temperatures and fan noise will be the only difference, but thats probably why the Giga cost more than the MSI (Usually).

I think he's worried about the card as so many others have developed issues.

OC offer 14 days as a goodwill jesture not to be used on a whim
or I fancy a different card.

As the card is working well and the temps are good
why would you want to tempt fate

3x 2560x1440 monitors.

These HIS cards are flying, I got better cards for less so it's a win for me despite initial disappointment.

I take it you've been reading about the issues with crossfire/eyefinity?

As theres problems using x58/79 mobo's.

I've tried recently using 7970's and Rampage Extreme and it was a no go,
just a heads up for you

It's silly to expect you will get a card that will overclock well.

It's not guaranteed.

It doesn't need to overclock 'well'. At 1150 which is very easy to hit for all 7950's I'm only 8% slower in BF3 at 1080. If my HIS was on the 7970 PCB I could get to within 5%.

Let us be clear that any 7950 can hit 1150 with a properly functioning cooler. I have so much headroom still and my chip is far from being 'good'. It's your average run of the mill 7950.

I think i've got a good card. My idle temps are between 28-32c and this is in a very tightly packed Prodigy case.
I just played Skyrim at full settings at 1920*1080 and after half an hour my temps peaked at 57c and the fan didn't seem much louder which when compared to my old reference Asus 6950 is pretty good to me :)

Keep in mind this is currently at stock as i really can't be bothered overclocking it at the moment as everything I currently play is running well.

edit: Not sure if it matters but this was also a clean install of the 12.11 beta 8 drivers :)

Rusty - what do you make of my latest issues:

Think my temps are OK (should be a lot better imo underload but anyway)

Basically, I cannot overclock the card. CCC can OC it a bit but AB cannot apply any overclock at all without crashed, artifracts or 15 fps in Heaven/BF3)

I've tried stock volts, 1.1,1.15, 1.2 1.25. This happens even at 1100c 1400m.

As soon as I hit apply in AB I get like a screen tear and I know it will not work and I get gfx glitches from eve moving my mouse around.

Any ideas from anyone?
