Have you/Will you upgrade to windows 10?

The MS Win 10 presentation at computex was interesting - doesn't seem the OS is very well liked by the technical crowd - maybe they got the message that they have work to do though.

Mildly amusing as the MS rep was trying to build hype and it fell flat on its face as 90% of the crowd apparently have little enthusiasm for the OS.

You know crowds, a lot don't like change period or find one excuse after another, fact is there are always those that resist change regardless, and those like me that adapt and move with the times regardless.

End of the day nothing wrong with Win10 IMHO, does everything I want it to and rock stable, just another Windows OS to me and yes I have used them all with no issues(apart from WinME) since DOS days to the latest.

As to data, privacy etc, I find that amusing that some users get too paranoid about it, are you expecting MIB(Men in Black) it be knocking at you door any time soon?..
Fact is, every person has to realize every OS comes and goes, same goes for Win7,10 etc, nothing new there.

I do find it amusing how some people get too attached to an OS, sad in some ways.

Ignoring the silly arguments I'll just say that I've had no problems at all with Win10, Love how fast my laptops start up these days & everything being the same for syncing makes sense to me & it all just works.
What others use makes no difference to me at all, Why would it ?

I guess you dont use a mobile phone then if you are concerned about the data collection methods, or use a credit card, store card, loyalty card, car park, motorway, town centre, all of which use various methods of collecting data about you.
None of what you mentioned hold as much personal information as my PC. But I restrict as much as I can from being shared with other third-party companies.

This is computex though - people largely tend to be there because they embrace change - it is often pretty much their job.

Even the MS rep couldn't ignore it - in a room with the numbers in the 100s where about half acknowledged using Windows 10 on their main PC only 4-5 were happy with the OS.

Adapting to change for changes sake is not a good thing - if people voted with their feet rather than just blindly accept change we'd get more improvements with changes.

Regarding privacy it often comes down to one simple thing - not people fearing the FBI or whatever but that people don't like feeling like someone is judging them especially potentially misjudging them - whether it is true anyone is doing it or not.

Look at Steam stats, more users using Win10 then Win7, as to change for changes sake, you should well know by now you never please them all, always those that will say "don't like this or that", I'm one for those that thought Win7 is far from perfect and far from my favourite OS, case in point as they say.

Some people (not saying you btw) just cling onto old stuff and make up reasons why this is better then something new or more modern, fact is any Windows OS is simple to use and most Windows have been very stable.

I have no problem with people staying on older stuff, but don't knock something more modern because of it, most of them don't even back it up with hard facts with reasons why it would effect the average PC user.

I can say 100% my PC usage as been the same since Win95 days, so the OS may change from time to time but does not mean it's going to effect me for the worst.
Maybe I'm just great at adapting for many decades or find it all a breeze to use, I know I don't need to make up reasons because I find it easy to change and move with the times
regardless.

As to voting with their feet, never been an issue for me since I can use Linux or Windows, so never used anything bad with Windows OS unless you count WinME(that was buggy, so was the main issue in my case).
As to to privacy, again welcome to 21st century, do you see people outside trying to get rid of all those cameras and satellites spying on them, data stuff collected on phones etc?...We know the answer to that one.
