Having a bit of a nightmare putting new pc together, pls help

ok thanks, spent some more time trying to straighten the 2 bent pins and it now looks perfect to me, anyone else notice any others ? 8th from the right and 6th down is the only one which maybe looks a bit dodgy but it only looks dodgy in the photo, when i look at it normally it seems fine... then again the photo is zoomed, so...

Hi mate, we all have to start somewhere! I blew my first PC up so you're doing better than that! I know you have sorted it now but for future reference, the Sara ports have the number at the end so SATA3_0 is port 0 and is Sata 3 speed. TheSATA3_A ports are not part of the chipset but are from an extra controller.

The thing is none of the ports seem to be called "0-5". They are called

SATA2_2
SATA2_3
SATA2_4
SATA2_5

SATA3_A1
SATA3_A0
SATA3_1
SATA3_0

I have no idea what one to use for the SSD, my normal HD and my DVD drive.

Anyone able to help. sorry for being an appalling noob.

Has the 2nd DIMM of memory worked? If not then RMA the board. Dual channel is preferable but won't give you much real world benefit. When you come to upgrade your motherboard will be worthless as it will be very hard to sell!

yes both sticks work when put into the second slot, the problem is when i add a second stick to the third slot, computer won't boot up

Dual in-line memory module. :)

Well done on straightening the pins. They still look very slightly askew to me. Have you looked at them through a magnifying glass from every possible angle?

Might just be my eyes.

Ok. well... this is weird.

I did straighten the pins a bit as seen in the picture above and still had the same issue.

I then randomly decided to unplug the rear fan from the motherboard and instead plug it in directly to the PSU... what do you know, both sticks now work. I previously had the rear fan plugged into the CPU Fan 2 input. I really don't understand how this would have caused the problem but now everything is working fine.

weird.

Thanks for all the help guys, genuinely grateful. learned a lot !

8 across 4 down, looks out of line, the others don`t look to bad.

That's odd... Still, its better than it catching fire! :p

(some members who remember me when I joined will know what I mean... My first custom build using 'new tech' caught fire on first power on.)

 leave it now its working fine, pins look ok to me now;)

The ram slots on that motherboard are labeled from left (being nearest the CPU heatsink) to right DDR3_A1, DDR3_A2 , DDR3_B1 , DDR3_B2.

You want memory sticks in slot DDR3_A1 + DDR3_B1 OR DDR3_A2 + DDR3_B2 so they work in Dual Channel Mode. (If you have 2 memory RAM sticks only)
