Having huge issues upgrading my PC - Can't get into BIOS when NVME

Excellent news :)

Good to hear it all worked. Don't forget to wipe the drive using the secure delete tool in your motherboards bios. You will most likely have to initialise the drive in Windows Disk Manager when you boot into Windows. Don't forget to put a heatsink on it.

So I installed the NVME and it worked fine this time. Managed to do a fresh install of windows on it. Just put in my new CPU and booted up. Seems to be working fine. Running Cinebench currently and max temp has been 62 Degrees.

Feeling so relieved it's all worked out. Felt like a disaster yesterday!

Not sure whether to put the 5080 in right now or just wait til tomorrow as I won't have time to play anything anyway

That what she said? :P
Mate I just put it in, connected the power cable and it doesn’t even start.

Can’t believe it

Had to leave so can’t try again til tomorrow morning but don’t understand what’s gone wrong.

Edit - Just thinking of what steps to try tomorrow to fix this. I was devastated when it didn't work straight away as every other PC component I've installed has always at least turned on.

Step 1 - Remove it and put it back in and try again.
Step 2 - Instead of using the new +12VHPWR port on my PSU I will try using the the adapter supplied with the GPU
Step 3 - I only tried one HDMI and one Displayport. I will try all the ports

Any other ideas would be welcome. Could there be setting in the BIOS that need changed? No idea!

Did you put a heatsink on the NVME drive and if so is it stopping the 5080 from fully clicking into the slot?

What PSU and 5080 did you get?

Wonder if it will help setting the PCIE slot to gen3 instead of auto (if it's possible).

My NVME is the 980 Pro with Heatsink. That's actually a good point. I'll remove it tomorrow and see if the GPU works

The heatsink is low profile so think it shouldn't be a problem, worth a go though to rule it out.

Not used one of these dedicated 12VHPWR cables, but i take it that it does not matter which end goes to the GPU?

Does the power indicator light up on the GPU, just above where you plug in the cable?

Well guys, I took it out and put it in very carefully. I tried the same 12VHPWR cable but made sure it was properly in and I'm relieved to say it turned on. Had some issues with getting a signal on the monitor but currently its working with one of the displayports.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Really thought this was ending in disaster when I made my opening post. Probably would have if I hadn't asked on here!!
