Hi Guys,

Over the past few days I've been encountering weird issues with my GFX card (BFG 800GTX). I originally put this down to the possibility of an unstable overclock on my old hardware and have since bought a new E6600 and new mobo which still has the same problem (both overclocked and at stock).

This is the issue I often experience when playing video games or trying to run 3Dmark06:

I've tried older and newer chipset and gfx card drives, systems I have used are as follows:

System 1:

Asus P5W-DH Dlx
2GB Gskill PC6400 RAM (mem tested ok)
E6600 @ stock and 3.4Ghz under Zalman cooler
Hiper 580w PSU

System 2:

Asus P5N-E SLI
2GB Gskill PC6400 RAM (mem tested ok)
E6600 @ stock and 3.6Ghz under TEC
Corsair 620w PSU

Temps in both setups are fine (CPU is 25 idle, 52 load overclocked) gfx is about 50deg idle, mobo temp is aprox 25.

Anyone got any recommendations or advice? I never used to have this issue with my X1900XTX, only been getting it since I put the 8800GTX in last week!

Cheers

Try different drivers..if the same problem exists...then send it back. Check the speeds it is going to in 3D performance mode. If its doing the same in two or three systems then I would just about say you got a faulty card.

Already tried 2 different sets of drivers, just installing the new ones that were released yesterday now!

looks like a borked card to me, if you get the same on your 3rd set of drivers then RMA it as theres no more drivers to try, unless you go through 3rd party ones and beta's.

Same story with the latest set too!

What’s weird is sometimes the issue causes my machine to reboot sometimes it doesn’t. Should this concern me as to whether the problem is my gfx card or not? Or could this still indicate a problem with the card?

Ive seen this twice. Once when my southbridge on an asus a8n sli gave up the ghost and once when my water loop leaked onto my 7800gtx (my own fault :( but dried it off and it works fine. :p

my card (nvidia n6600) had that when playing on bf2 if i press print screen that would happen
i fixed mine by going to the latest drivers

As mentioned, already tried the only 3 sets of official drivers that support the 8800 series. I get the problem with all versions! :(

Cheers for the advice guys, I appreciate it!

Have sent BFG an email asking for advice, I'll keep you updated :)
