Hawx

just played the demo, it is arcade not even remotely sim, its good fun mind and gets pretty addictive, the aircraft GFX are superbe but the ground textures are a pile of steaming poo, pretty annoyed you can only do tight turns and what not in 3rd person?! so you have to constantly switch between cockpit and outside cams, wish they'd have left that feature out :(

To be honest, ive been using FS2004 & FSX (with 60 gig of add-ons) for ages now and sometimes you just want a good dogfight...which these games cannot offer.

Only thing that really attracts me to this game is the jets them self...especially the Eurofighter Typhooon. They seem to have licences/permission for all of them which is great.

Il buy it.

I have just been made redundant, so got plenty of time for games this year.

2009 is really I am looking forward to as far as games go, we will have 2 flgith sim games, one hardcore and other one softcore, yet both share the same degree of realism and quality graphics!!

DCS: Black Shark is really the most hardcore game I have ever seen in years! Yet Hawk is like arcade but the graphics is superb.

I can't wait it's March 10 isn't it?

Sorry to hear that mate. hopefully will get enough time for games but not to much you become lazy, my mate hasnt worked in a year as he became to lazy to go get another job, then he wonders why i can afford new pc parts.

Anyone had any luck getting the multiplayer section of the demo to work online on the PS3? Whenever I search for a game now nothing seems to turn up, and if I host one nobody ever joins.

I thought they included the whole onlione jazz in the demo, even if it was limited to only two maps. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: Just seen this was the thread in the PC section. Sorry everyone. I forgot the search function searches through all the sub-forums

Oh thanks ! I have started to look for some temp jobs.

Hey about eh PS3, would you try logining into Windows Live? XBOX and PC are sort of integrated into Windows Live, I am not sure if PS3 does support this feature.

So...not an updated EF2000 then?

Might be worth a look, even if nothing like the good old 90's flight sims and a bit of support might encourage developers back to the genre.

It says on the Hawx forum that the demo will be available on March 2nd which is today :D

However there doesnt seem to be any sign of it yet :(

Edit: Just read that the demo will be out at 5pm GMT on the offical HAWX website, from here

Its going to be one of two things, an absolute deamon to download or will be extremely quick, the game seams to be like marmite a lot of people slaughtering it and others bigging it up and cannot wait,

I was hoping it would be out on Friday as its my birthday i could treat myself, If i do get this who reconsa nice joystick should be bought or just use the xbox control

played the 360 demo. It's VERY arcadey. Anyone expecting any sort of sim is going to be extremely disappointed.

Im sure the plane models and stats are going to be very accurate, as is the tradition of the Tom Clancey games.

But the game play itself is aim and shoot, and flare before the missile hits you. I personally enjoy this, and ive long wanted a nice arcade flight combat game for the pc in the style of ace combat.

It's got this strange "non guided mode" where on the 360 you pull either left or right trigger twice and it enters a sort of almost 2d style view - it's very hard to explain. But it's meant for dog fighting style action, and works quite well. It's not 2d... but the way the camera works it almost feels like it. In the demo though, this was optional - so it's hard to say why you should use it really.. as its definitely easier to just stay in the "guided" mode where you have the standard ace combat over the head view.

So not too sure about that. But yeah, very arcadey and not a sim from what ive seen. At times in the demo, id say it even reminded me of something like "After burner" where you would tag incoming targets, release a couple of missiles and move on to the next! very fast paced.
