Hd Cloning

Acronis True Image 9.00 Update.

It took a few atttempts to install, probably due to my running other programs in the background (like firewall and anti-virus etc).

I have cloned my 74Gb Raptor (which has all my OSs) to a 120Gb Maxtor on a USB2 External Drive.

It took about 30 mins and went went without a hitch. I am typing this on the cloned drive (for testing purposes). It needed a couple of re-boots and the firewire drive was not detected, but I sorted this via Device Manager. The OS took longer to load the first time, but subsequent re-boots were much faster.

I am quite impressed. My system is not that staight forward with 2 x SATA drives, 2 x PATA drives (one in a firewire enclosure) , 3 x optical drives, RAM drives, multiple OS.

Acronis have a deal on at the moment - US$69.99 for True Image 9 and Disk Director Suite 10. I decided to buy them - it came to £49.48 inc. VAT.

Another vote for acronis. The trial was very impressive so we'll be buying the corporate version and imaging all our client machines with it. I try to stay away from anything that involves symantec now anyway!

when i cloned my works drive (from 80gb, down to a 10gb ) it freezes on bootup, on a windows xp blue screen (just before the desktop would appear).

The new drive would have plenty of room as the install in ony 4gb, and will not grow as it is just a networked pc, with no local storage.

any ideas
