HD-DVD Arrive - Small Problem: Adv Required

Very interested in how Superman Returns turns out. Was tempted to get a HD-DVD player for this just to see this film!! In fact, if I walked into a shop tomorrow and I saw a brand new one for 129.99 with Superman Returns bundled instead of King Kong I would buy one in a flash :D

It's probably similar to the IMAX cinema version, which was pretty impressive. Shame the story is awful :p.

Dan - have you checked to see if the seller has a copy of King Kong HD up for sale? It wouldn't really surprise me if they'd taken it out to sell on. You're well within your rights to complain, as you've not recieved what was advertised to you.

Thing is, it costs £102.78, then you add the £20 shipping, then you add the English remote because the one it comes with is Japanese so it comes to the same price you actually pay for it in the Uk so I don't really see much point. Actually since the remotes about £20 your paying £10 more than the Uk price

the japanese remote also has english on it and you can tell straight away by looking at it what 95% of the buttons do so why would you need to buy an english one as well?

Shhhh, don't tell mcd that!

I've seen the film :p and im a big superman fan so all is good.

Still no email off the bloke - if ive not heard by 3pm ill open a dispute with paypal......can someone tell me how

maybe the guy thought it would have king kong inside it so advertised as so but he never knew that it wouldnt, i thought i would be getting king kong too but then i looked up on the internet and it was only available for a limited time same with the xbox 360 media remote only the very few people that got the first batch actually get one which is a bit wrong since its near enough impossible to get the 1st batch as its very small and in high demand

Ebay (I assume I can mention it in this context) has a complaints procedure too. Log into My Ebay and click 'dispute console' on the left and then 'report an item as not received or not as described'. Might be worth complaining through ebay and paypal. Send the guy another email and tell him you're going to have to submit an official complaint through ebay and paypal if he doesn't respond.

yea but is has the holder for the dvd and had been opened, plus he advertised it with the film and being sealed

Does it have the King Kong Sticker on the side of the box as well?

I'd open up a dispute for the value of how much it's going to cost you to buy a retail King Kong. Think it's around £17.99 on the net and £24.99 on the high street.

This doesn't explain why the item was advertised as sealed and yet arrives unsealed with the stated included dvd missing.

yeah but all im saying is it could have been an honest mistake, mine came with the exact same holder but no hd-dvd they were for a limited time only , i thought i was going to get it but it wasnt advertised i would be getting it and also nothing was written on the box, in fact i couldnt read any of the writing on the box since its japanese but im pretty sure there was nothing written about king kong, yes i would be miffed if i never got it and it was advertised as such, the guy made at least £20 off you, you have to remember paypal and ebay fees and he may have bought it for more than retail, i would ask for £15 compensation in your situation but i doubt the guy was out to con you

I said ive given him the benefit of the doubt, im sure he wasnt - its been almost 24hours since i emailed him with no reply yet though.

Mc Daniel said "It states sealed in the description but the circular sticker on the side of the xbox packaging has obviously been re-applied"

which it looked like to him that it had been opened but he cannot positively say it had been, how can you be sure that isnt the way the sticker is on all of them? have you seen other stickers? how many other stickers have you seen? its all in his mind because he never got the dvd, but if it has been opened it is wrong, but i doubt it really has? how could you prove it, it had the sticker on it and the stickers are designed so that when taken off they rip or tear making them very hard to be re-applied in this way

on a side note i havent got any hd dvd's they are too expensive lol just been using its upscaling features whilst i find a source of hd-dvd's for cheap,
what type of screen do you have mine is 1080i 32 inch and when upscaled normal dvds look very good through component

they are see through circle stickers that cover the flaps on the packaging, the same ones that are on the xbox360 box aswell, it was obvious it had been reapplied due to the bubbles on it and the slight dent where someone had dug there nail in to get behind the sticker and it had elements of the white cardboard on the sticker from where originally peeled - it was immediatly obvious, i didnt really care anyway - until i noticed no dvd inside.
