HD-DVD

Well where's your source then?

You basically just quoted my post and ignored everything that was in it.

They're supporting BluRay, they never said exclusively, and they said they're open to releasing films on HD-DVD.

My source? i asked you to show me a disney HD-DVD for order or pre order. Sure in the future they may support both formats, but In the future Universal may support both formats.

I see Disney have a Blu-Ray web site, but not an HD-DVD one, i think that speaks for itself for exclusivity tbh.

I added the studios I knew for HD-DVD and the ones I knew for BluRay, which is more than anyone else is doing.

If you thought you could have done a better job why didn't you?

All I see is you repeating everything johnnyfive says like his puppet.

That is funny i am nobodies puppet tbh
And i didn't go out my way to be a smart **** like Johnnfive did and be smug saying things like 'Fixed'

This is just bickering for the sake of it now.

Yes but it's still no source for them supporting BluRay exclusively.

Sony Pictures and all the studios owned by them is an exclusive, as are the other studios that said they're supporting BluRay exclusively

Disney have said nothing of the kind, until they do they're not an exclusive,
since they said they're still open to releasing films on HD-DVD.

When they say they're not open to HD-DVD, then they're exclusive to BluRay.

Well sorry but when they release/plan to release on HD-DVD then they are no longer exclusive, whilst they are released on one format and 'evaluating' another, they are exclusive.

and that is a 2 way street.

UMD was a failure and PSP is behind Nintendo DS in format sales. As there are only 2 formats only one can be a sales winner and as a result, the PSP is the sales loser. 20million sales or not.

Wrong - the PS and NDS exist within two very different market segments altogether. Each one is successful in thier own right.

I can't help but feel that the bickering in this thread is getting a bit out of hand. Come on guys, sit back and chill. We're civilised adults who don't need to resort to childish bickering. That's not directed at anyone in particular by the way so don't assume that I am speaking to whoever specifically. But come on...

Although old as far as I know this is still valid information, and oh look it says Walt Disney is a HDDVD supporting member. I would guess they are only releasing BluRay at the moment because WD Pictures and Television is a member of the board of BluRay. It also lists Universal as a member/contributor of both camps.

While Disney continues to insist that Blu-ray is a better standard and will eventually win the format war, the company seems to be edging toward a position of supporting -- or at least releasing movies in -- both HD DVD and Blu-ray formats. At a recent shareholders' meeting Disney CEO Robert Iger talked up Blu-ray, but then went on to say that the company would "probably publish in both formats." The move mirrors similar decisions by other studios, such as Warner Brothers and Paramount, both of which had originally been HD DVD-only, but later went on to declare format neutrality.

Hopefully that will put an end to all the Disney related bickering.

Id rather have my movies on discs as would a lot of other people i presume. Its about actually owning something for your money. Beside it's hassle if your hard drive goes and you have to download all your movies again. I really doubt it will be this generation they will move to that.

Funny, its never stopped anyone downloading marketplace games though has it? And with the emergence of a lot more of these type services (Sky are likely moving to this with their broadband subs, Apple TV, Microsoft Video marketplace in the USA) I personally see it being a contender.

Anyway, its a waste of time in this thread, cant really have a civilised debate without fanboys and flamewars. All we are going to get in here is the 360 fans going "HDDVD is going to win" and the PS3 girlies going "Blueray is the winner" as already proven with one page of the post.

Okay guys, stop bickering.

Next time you are in HMV go to the next-gen HD shelves and look at Blu-Ray and HD-DVD side by side. Then honestly tell me which of these 2 formats currently have the best movies out.

I honestly don't see how anyone can say that Blu-Ray currently has a better selection of films than HD-DVD, so if you are happy with HD-DVD's choices of film then get a HD-DVD add-on.

Well I go to Virgin which has abotu 30 titles of each - this was yesterday - and it was about equal

10 of each I have actually enjoyed ( at least one ruined by standard sound) a few I wasnt interested in at all even though I know they are decent transfers, the rest was dross vastly overpriced

As of this week they actuallly moved it to a much more prominant position (the mixed shelf of hd discs)so Im hoping this means they are getting a bigger selection coming in very soon

PS in this instance I bought 3 br's and 2 hd-dvd's - currently collection of 7 to 9 respectively plus a few coming in the post over easter
