Hd suddenly not working, I got proofs. HELP

Re the vacuum sealed thing, I believe back in mists of time hard drives were indeed sealed units, though not vacuum sealed for sure. The velocity and density of components has gone up and pressure becomes an issue, hence the holes, to equalise air presssure

But when the class is in 2011, you're going to want to be showing us something modern.

I think the most modern thing in that class was a SATA I port.

From the sound of that drive I think it's screwed. If you don't have a backup of your important data, then I guess you can learn a lesson from this experience.

I got a backup of all my staff, but I didn't do the copy since 2 month ago, I've lost just few pictures not even important...

I'll open it tonight and I'll see if in 3 minutes I can save the few pictures remaning and something else...

Warranty void if seal broken etc.. lol.

I bought that HD like 5 years ago... And was working good, I had just my dates there, I got my raid of samsung F3 2 terabytes just for s.o... Those are news but not the broken one...

Two options send it to these companys that recovery dates, very expensive or just open it and try to move the needle and save the few dates that I did not save...

I'd never consider the 2nd option to be an option. The actuator arm and head are not an lp needle and you don't have a stuck record though you're sounding like one lol. Just open it and save your 'dates' if you really think it'll work. Consider you a possible troll.

stick the HDd in a couple of air tight bags.
Stick in the freezer for a while

Possibility, has worked about 2 times in 20 i've tried it. Not that great for massive amounts of data as it warms up pretty quickly hehe.

Yeah will heat up fast like.
might just be the little nudge the heads need to spring abck into life tho :)

Worth a bash if its anything important.
Alternatively if ya got a laptop and an external enclosure, you could always run the HDD whilst in the freezer.

Caddy it up cables to ya lappy, then make sure it's covered as best u can using Ziplock bags or similar and tape?
