Ok guys, post the brand of your 2900 pro and the highest clock you've reached.

I get my Powercolor next week.

@ 100% fan the core locks up at around 850Mhz in the Catalyst OC automatic testing tool but I didn't benchmark as my ears were bleeding and I'm never going to run it @ 100% fan!

Updates:

With Fan @ 100% the highest core to complete 3dmark06 is 843Mhz..... I'm no way claiming this is 100% stable but it gets a result for comparisons.

I've also noted that 3dmark reports slightly different frequencies than Catalyst which seems a few Mhz optimistic. All figures quoted are catalyst, if you want 3dmark figures then follow the links.

I get mine on Tuesday (Sapphire 512mb) but I'm hoping to just be able to run the thing with my aged single 12volt rail PSU, never mind overclock it :o. I have access to a friends 700watt if things go wrong so no matter what, it should be ok to OC and see what I get.

I really hope I can at least get XT speeds as it's a lot further apart (core and memory) compared to the X1900XT and XTX is. I got past XTX speeds but not a lot further with having to drop memory for a better core clock and lower clock for better memory clock. If I can hit 800+ Mhz on the core then I'll be laughing. I can't wait to fiddle again, I just hope my initial test with my PSU doesn't kill some parts whilst it goes Snap, Crackle, POP! :D.

Edit:

Nice clock HillBilly2. I take it you just wanted XT speeds and are happy to be running at that?. If so then see how far you can push it like Decto has done :).

Well done Decto :). I just hope my Sapphire can scale as nicely.

You sure you are running 3dmark6 at performance and not quality settings? you got aa and af switched off?

Ask decto what he gets in sm2 and sm3 results at 750/900 which is less then yours.

You will always score less than him of course due to your cpu but I honestly thought a 2900 pro oc past xt speeds would pawn my 8800 GTS 320Mb.

Main Test Results 750/900

3DMark Score 11248 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 4774 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 5203 Marks
CPU Score 2892 Marks

I can run 3dmark06 @ 816/1000 but to be fair it's not really a valid bench as my ram gives out around 940 ish. I did run it a couple of days ago as the 1k memory clock but didn't save the link, didn't see any artifacts but in ATItool anything above around 940 give me artifacts when running the ATItool test so I figure it's pushing it too hard.

Looking at the thread on 3dmark06 scores, mine sort of looks about right with the guys running AMD chips one guy beats my buy about 1000 points with sli'd 8800gts and another buy 1000 points but he is running an 8800 ultra...............
So 1000 points behind two 8800gts's and an 8800ultra is not to bad?

Or is it? The athlons are slow compared the the core chips i'm shure its holding back my rig i was thinking about buying a 6400+ but i don't think it will make a huge improvement
Any different ideas?

Just comparing with decto your gfx scores are low. Yes the cpu holds you back in your total score just like mine does but I would expect you to be scoring better in the gfx than my lowly 8800 GTS 320Mb.

And the guy with the Ultra is underscoring by about 2000 points.

Your 2900 pro running higher than a 2900xt shoudl score much more than a 8800 GTS and you should be scoring more than decto.

his 2900 512 @ 740 core, 910 mem

am sure it can go higher. max temp in crysis is 61C so all good so far

3dmark06 score a measly 7800. need to get 2x1gig memory and overclock cpu to boost that.

performance in games @ dx9 is flawless. average fps in fear @ max 75, bioshock, 1650x1080 is around the 55-60 mark

very very happy as these easily hit xt speeds with minimal stress...in fact...they are XT's with an extra heat pipe :D

I've only gone higher in the memory not the core. Maybe you are right, just looking at those 3dmark 06 scores the amd scores are low over everything(SM1 SM2 CPU)
If you were running a pro in you rig at the clocks i posted,i'm shure it would score better than your GTS

decto is running an E4300 @3300 vs my 5000+ @2900 Thats why he gets better scores I like AMD but the proof is there in the benches...The core chips are very very strong i carn't get close with my cpu holding it all up

AtiTool is crazy, i have no problems running my GTS at much higher clocks than will work in AtiTool.
