HD2900 pro overclocking thread.

I belive so, I'm sure a certain auction site will have some converters.

On my Corsair the additional pins are both ground so server no real purpose.

Cosair are offering replacement 8 pin cables if you have an older HX unit with only 6 pin.

Otherwise ATItool works fine for OC... just a little coarse.

Besy option is a BIOS flash to XT

AD

I have a HX620 bought about 3 months ago but was unlucky and it didn't come with the 8 pin cable.

Any chance you can email me the details for getting a 8 pin replacement?

My Pro's sat at 800 core 900memory atm. Atitool tells me the core tops out around 860 but won't find top memory speed so im working that up slowly. 3dmark06 score sat around 8600 with 800/850 which is pants due to my cpu.

Looking at the latest review of the 2900Pro/XT the 320 seems to win most of the benchmarks at stock over the XT. Interesting read. I'm assuming 4X AA is killing the card?

I ordered an 800GTS 640 last week and was unsure if I made the correct decision (my choice was mainly based on noise levels). This review makes me feel a lot better.

..and before anyone goes on about the 640MB GTS being much more expensive than the 2900Pro, they can be found for £190 if you know where to look. I guess prices will drop everywhere soon. Just a shame that both the 88xx and 290x cards only have a few months before being superceded.

Go to the Corsair forums and look for the thread there about it. Email Ramguy and he will sort you out, cost $20 for shipping and they send you 2 x cables each with a 6 and 8 pin on it,

EDIT: Ramguy (and the other admin also) on the corsair forum are absolutely fantastic. If he wasn't in California, I would already have bought him a beer :D

Anyone actually got the pro running (and overclocked) on an Asrock 4CoreDual motherboard? Can you please give me some info on how it is performing on the x4 pci-e slot please :)

Matthew

Both the Pros I've had are Club3D and have been 3 pipe. All are reference boards like the 2900XTs so I don't brand makes much if any difference.
